16-bit DAC converter claims to be industry's fastest
Claiming to be the industry's fastest 16-bit DAC converter, TI's DAC38J84 and DAC38J82 support the JEDEC JESD204B serial interface standard for data converters up to 12.5Gbps. TI claims that the 4-channel, 2.5-GSPS DAC38J8 is 66% faster than competing devices, whilst the 2-channel, 16-bit DAC38J82 is 22% faster than exisitng 16-bit dual DACs.
ADCs enable multi-channel data acquisition at low power
Claiming to provide the lowest power in the smallest package size in their class, the 14b AD9249 and AD9681 are the latest ADCs from Analog Devices. The 16-channel, 65-MSPS AD9249 and the 8-channel, 125-MSPS AD9681 are designed for multi-channel data acquisition at low power where a small package size is crucial to the overall design.
Taking the pressure out of home monitoring
An analogue front-end suitable for blood pressure monitoring systems provides affordable accuracy in an increasingly cost-conscious use-case. Debbie Brandenburg, Product Marketing Manager, High Performance Analog Products, Exar, discusses more in this ES Design magazine article.
SigmaDSP processor improves audio performance
Adding an audio-centric device to the company's SigmaDSP processor line, the ADAU1452 from Analog Devices greatly exceeds the signal processing capabilities of earlier SigmaDSP devices. Executing up to three times more audio processing algorithms than its predecessors, hardware and software updates enable the processor to give system designers the flexibility to improve the audio performance of their products.
Video signal processor scales between SD, HD and UHD
With the capability to upscale and downscale between SD (480i), ED (480p), HD (720p, 1080i and 1080p), and UHD (2160p) video formats, the UHD NatureVue ADV8005 video signal processor supports multiple screen resolutions across two simultaneous video streams. Introduced by Analog Devices, the processor suits applications including A/V receivers, HDMI splitters, commercial video distribution systems and digital signage.
Meter-on-a-chip enables portable health applications
Designed for a variety of portable health applications including point-of-care diagnostics, home/self-test health devices, and wearable vital signs monitors (for health and sports applications), the ADuCM350 has been announced by Analog Devices. Offering high precision and low power consumption, this single-chip solution is comprised of a 16-bit accurate AFE, processing subsystem and an industry-standard software development environment.
MEMS microphone provides high SNR of 66dB(A)
Particularly suitable for demanding audio applications in smartphones, TDK has introduced the C928 MEMS microphone. In the frequency range of 20Hz-20kHz, this microphone offers a high SNR of 66dB(A) to improve the audio quality of distant sound sources, i.e. when using the speakerphone or recording video.
All clear: 940nm I-R emitting diodes feature SMD side-view packages
Rutronik now has two new 940nm high-speed infrared emitting diodes in compact 3.2mm x 2.51mm x 1.2mm clear SMD side-view packages from Vishay. The new diodes VSMY14940 and VSMB14940 combine high radiant intensity and optical power with fast switching times.
New DSCs enable efficient dual motor control
A new family of dsPIC33 Digital Signal Controllers has been announced today by Microchip. Designated the dsPIC33EP512GM710 family, the introduction of the new DSCs signal an expansion of Microchip’s dsPIC DSC portfolio that adds higher levels of integration for motor control applications. The dsPIC33EP512GM710 family features 12 motor control PWM channels (6 pairs), dual 12-bit ADCs, multiple 32-bit Quadrature Encoder Interfaces, and two CA...
6 Channel RS-422 Driver with Encoder Link
iC-Haus has today unveiled the new iC-HF, which provides 6 RS-422 line drivers for 3V – 5.5V encoder applications. Featuring an integrated Encoder Link function, the line drivers can be deactivated and analog/digital signals directly accessed through the line driver output pins. For differential RS-422 line driver operation, six differential complementary drivers are implemented.
