Dense audio CODECs for application processors
Dolphin Integration has rolled-out its new generation of pure logic Audio CODECs, representing a cost effective solution for advanced processes such as 28nm and 16nm. Targeting a silicon area as low as 0.06mm2 at 28nm for the sCODi-N1-DS.01, using SESAME uHD standard cells, a new standard has been achieved for meeting market challenges.
Celeno utilises CEVA DSP for 802.11ac Wave 2 4x4 WiFi
CEVA has announced that Celeno Communications has licensed and deployed the CEVA-XC DSP for its 802.11ac Wave 2 4x4 WiFi chip portfolio. Celeno has utilised the CEVA-XC to build a powerful, flexible and highly efficient solution for WiFi 802.11ac next-gen access points and client devices.
Digital phase shifter offers GaAs performance on CMOS
A new digital phase shifter from Peregrine Semiconductor is available at Richardson RFPD, supported by full design capabilities. The PE44820 is a HaRP technology-enhanced 8-bit digital phase shifter (DPS) that covers a phase range of 358.6 degrees in 1.4 degree steps, maintaining excellent phase and amplitude accuracy across the nominal frequency band of 1.7GHz to 2.2GHz.
Audio enhancement now available on Cadence Tensilica HiFi audio/voice DSPs
Cadence Design System has announced that dbx-tv’s Total Technology audio enhancement suite is now available on the Cadence Tensilica HiFi audio/voice DSP family. The Total Technology suite offers several technologies working together, which result in optimal audio quality that creates the best sound available from the TV’s built-in high-performance speakers.
7 steps to a successful analogue ASIC
This paper is an educational piece directed toward engineers, engineering managers and corporate decision makers who are seeking new ways to shrink the size and lower the cost of their products as well as protect their IP through custom integration. By Bob Frostholm, Vice President of Marketing & Sales, JVD Semiconductors.
Next gen 12-bit ADC offers 5.4GSps
e2v’s EV12AS350 is set to be the only 12-bit resolution ADC on the market that combines signal digitisation at 5.4GSps, instantaneous bandwidth in excess of 3GHz and latency as low as 26 clock cycles with a noise of -150dBm/Hz. Unlike other ADCs on the market, it will be free of non-harmonic spurs, creating a pure signal for coders to manipulate in a range of demanding applications.
The expansion of the DAC product line
Microchip announces the expansion of its Digital-to-Analogue Converter (DAC) product line with the MCP48FXBXX families of devices. The six-member MCP48FEBXX DAC family offers integrated EEPROM to save DAC settings at power-down, while the MCP48FVBXX family provides lower-cost alternatives for applications that do not require integrated memory.
60% reduction in computational cost of speech enhancement software
Cadence Design Systems and Accusonus have announced that the Accusonus Focus-MDR and Focus-DNR speech enhancement software has been optimised for Cadence Tensilica HiFi Audio/Voice digital signal processors (DSPs). Accusonus was able to achieve a 60% reduction in computational cost as measured in megacycles per second (MCPS) without any loss of quality.
Morpho's MovieSolid now on Cadence Tensilica imaging/vision DSPs
Cadence Design Systems and Morpho has announced that Morpho’s MovieSolid and Morpho Video WDR are now available on the Cadence Tensilica Vision P5 digital signal processor (DSP). Ported by vision industry experts at Morpho, these products make it much easier for designers to offer applications with advanced stabilisation and image-correction capabilities with lower power consumption. MovieSolid is an embedded software programme for stabilis...
Smart amplifier enables deeper, richer & louder audio
Enabling designers to develop next-gen smartphones with industry-leading audio quality at peak volumes while maximising battery efficiency, a low-power smart amplifier has been introduced by Texas Instruments. The TAS2555 Class-H audio amplifier with integrated speaker protection uses back electromotive force and low power of 5.7W to produce bigger sound from small devices.
