Modular IoT platform aims to reduce time-to-market
Connect One has introduced an IoT end-to-end platform to help customers bring IoT products to market faster. The iChipNet includes all the building blocks required for IoT product design, hardware, software and connectivity. Since industry IoT standards are not yet in place, end-to-end solutions from a single vendor can ensure interoperability so that components seamlessly ‘talk’ to each other.
Who will win the battle of the IoT standards?
There is a great deal of overlap and confusion when it comes to IoT standards. Device developers and design engineers understandably have lots of questions. Cees Links, CEO, GreenPeak Technologies, has written a whitepaper covering who is doing what and why it matters, guiding readers through the various layers to try and make sense of it all.
Node & gateway devices build IoT environments
A series of node and gateway devices, which allows System Integrators to build their own IoT environment, has been released by Advantech. The WISE-3000 devices, which feature WISE-cloud IoT software, provide remote device management, reliable data acquisition and security protection for many IoT applications.
Industrial IoT platform now features Cloud capabilities
Cloud Service capabilities have been added to ILS Technology’s deviceWISE Application Enablement Platform for the industrial IoT. These capabilities help redefine the information-driven enterprise, transforming manufacturing, energy and natural resources, transportation and retail transaction management with improved connectivity, real-time data that increase performance, reliability and competitiveness within factories, remote locations an...
mbed shields enable entry to IoT development
CSR has released connectivity solutions for the ARM mbed OS that will enable developers to produce complete IoT solutions with increasing speed and ease. Two mbed expansion boards, also known as shields, will be offered to the IoT developer community: one combining WiFi and Bluetooth based on the CSR6030 and CSR8311; and the other offering Bluetooth Smart connectivity based on the CSR1010.
WiFi modules simplify secure IoT development
Texas Instruments' SimpleLink family was introduced earlier this year as a low-power platform to simplify the ability to connect IoT solutions. Developers can gain additional design flexibility with a certified Internet-on-a-chip module option, as TI has added to the family, announcing the availability of its SimpleLink WiFi CC3100 and CC3200 modules for IoT applications.
Smart metering unit selected for efficiency initiative
Analog Devices has announced that Elster has selected ADI’s ADF7241 smart metering solution for use in gas and electricity meters as part of a nationwide energy efficiency initiative sponsored by the British government. Under the Smart Metering Implementation Programme, more than 50m smart gas and electric meters will be installed in all homes and small businesses across the U.K. by 2020.
IoT integration platform simplifies device & data management
Eurotech has announced the official release of Everyware Cloud 3.5, the M2M/IoT Integration Platform built to simplify device and data management by connecting distributed devices over secure and reliable cloud services. Once devices are deployed, the Everyware Cloud allows users to connect, configure and manage devices through the lifecycle, from deployment through maintenance to retirement.
Can pre-validated modules provide a faster route to the IoT?
With a seemingly countless number of connected devices, the IoT will be a gigantic growth market in the coming years. With the right solution, developers can concentrate on their core competencies and access the required specialist know-how in the shape of affordable, reliable and pre-validated modules.
