Human-machine interface for adverse ambient conditions
With the new variants in its Ex BF 80 product series, the steute business unit Extreme is not targeting the mass market of human-machine interface users. There is, namely, an essential difference between these new devices and conventional products: they have been developed especially for use in explosive environments and in temperatures ranging from -60 to +65°C.
Industrial managed M12-based Ethernet switches for rail applications
It has been announced that TE Connectivity (TE) now offers EN50155 Managed Ethernet switches that enable secure and reliable Gigabit-speed networks in harsh network environments on railway rolling stock, even where vibration levels are extreme.
Switches, keypads and joysticks sent to Coventry
The Engineering Design Show in Coventry (October 16-17) will be used by EAO to showcase is latest HMI switches, CANbus keypads and rotary controllers. Visitors will also see CAN bus LCD displays, encoders and rotary switches from Grayhill and collong fans, stepper motors and drivers from Sanyo Denki.
Pushbuttons and switches enable cost-friendly upgrade
RS Components has added the Schneider Electric Harmony XB4F series of flush mounting pushbuttons, selector switches and pilot lights to its product portfolio. Designed for use in industrial automation and smart manufacturing applications, they give new machines and control panels a modern and ergonomic look and feel.
Traffic sign control by energy harvesting switches
When talking about Energy Harvesting Switches, the first applications that one thinks of are primarily in the smart home, building and industrial automation industry. A ZF Friedrichshafen’s customer, Westcotec, has developed an application for traffic signs using the ZF Energy Harvesting Switch.
High-performance switch for use in harsh environments
Kontron has announced the CP6940, a 1/10/40 Gigabit Ethernet switch for CompactPCI and VME embedded systems. The CP6940, which has been specifically optimised for multicast applications, is designed for long-term programs and use in harsh environments and in an extended temperature range from -40 to +85°C.
Isolated smart switches for harsh industrial environments
Silicon Labs has introduced a family of compact, robust isolated smart switches designed to drive any load, even in the harshest industrial environments. The new Si834x isolated switches are well suited for driving resistive and inductive loads such as solenoids, relays and lamps used in industrial control systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), I/O modules, relay drivers and servo motor controllers.
Edge-wound inductor provides low DCR down to 0.25mΩ
An IHDM edge-wound, through-hole inductor with rated current up to 150A for industrial and military applications has been released by Vishay Intertechnology. Featuring a powdered iron alloy core technology, the Vishay Custom Magnetics IHDM-1008BC-30 provides stable inductance and saturation over a demanding operating temperature range from -40 °C to +180 °C with low power losses and excellent heat dissipation.
Anti‐vandal switches customisation offered
CIT Relay & Switch offers a broad line of sealed, illuminated Anti‐Vandal switches. Ranging from 10mm up to 40mm, the styles offer dot and ring illumination with CUSTOM laser printing available, with body and actuator finish options including stainless steel, nickel and anodised aluminium.
New terminal shape for a thinner detector switch design
Alps Alpine, a manufacturer of high-quality electronic products, has developed a SPVQ8 Series detector switch for use in detecting the opening and closing of side doors, hoods and other vehicle doors. Electrification of vehicles is progressing and cars are becoming lighter. The electronic components inside them therefore need to be smaller and lighter, too.
