Densitron has just extended its range of TFT offerings with the addition of Pixel Qi displays which are highly energy efficient and have full indoors and sunlight readability
Utilizing patented reflective screen technology, Pixel Qi displays can operate in transmissive, transflective and reflective modes to deliver the best user experience in different lighting conditions.

With the backlight full on, Pixel Qi TFT operates in transmissive mode and renders quality full-colour images, full-motion video and high screen brightness just like standard backlit LCD displays. With middle to low backlight, the TFT is in transflective mode and offers some colour and clear visibility in ambient light conditions, looking as good as standard LCDs with full backlight whilst consuming much less power. Standard TFT modules can be difficult to read in high ambient light levels. In contrast, Pixel Qi TFT, with the backlight off, becomes a highly reflective black and white (64 grayscales) display akin to e-paper but with support for rapid update and video, enabling full usability under bright sunlight.

Pixel Qi displays come with standard LVDS interface and have very low power consumption: 0.4W (sunlight mode, 1000-5000 nit screen brightness), 1.0 -1.7W (office lighting, 200-300 nit screen brightness) and 1.7 - 2.5W (dark room, 100-200 nit screen brightness). Due to their energy efficiency, the displays deliver longer battery life.

These low power, high resolution screens are suitable for a wide range of applications, for instance, instrumentation, point of sale, military and large potable applications. TFT supporting accessories, including AD boards, LED driver cards, driver cards with USB and Ethernet inputs, and cover lenses as well as various surface treatment options, such as anti-glare and anti-reflective coating, are available. The displays can be further enhanced through Densitron’s Engineering Design Service which offers options on integrating standard or custom display modules with touch screens, PCBs, Plastics, and/or Keypads.
