Averna Announces First Channel Emulator Designed for the DOCSIS Industry
Averna has revealed the launch of the first channel emulator designed specifically for the DOCSIS industry. The new DOCSIS Channel Emulator is especially beneficial to OEM/ODM labs to facilitate and accelerate their internal validation and external certifications for SCTE 40 with multi-system operators.
It aThe DCE ensures that modems, set-top boxes and gateways are resilient to cable-plant noise interference so that MSOs can deliver the highest quality of service. As this industry moves to high channel counts - 24-bonded downstream channels and 8-bonded upstream channels - the DCE cost-effectively enables the impairment of these channels while maintaining synchronization between headend and customer-premises equipment.
The cable and broadband industry will greatly benefit from this highly adaptable, software-based instrumentation solution, said Averna's Jean-Levy Beaudoin, Director of Business Development. The DCE provides a significant competitive advantage over traditional hardware-based instruments, enabling MSOs and device-makers to efficiently simulate field environments and help the industry achieve higher quality of service.
DCE Highlights
• Multiple channels: Up to 24-channel simultaneous processing
• (3x80 MHz input bandwidth for DS)
• Scalable: 8-DS channel blocks of 80 MHz can be added with additional modules
• Large frequency range: 65 MHz-1.004 GHz (DS) and 5 MHz-80 MHz (US)
• Real-time impairments: Phase noise, AWGN, micro-reflections, CTB, CSO, C/I, etc.
• Intuitive interface: Real-time Spectral and Constellation displays
