Cure FIP gasket material eliminates long waiting times
Engineering and fitting of effective sealing has often been a rather time-consuming and at times unsatisfactory business, frequently involving moulded or pre-punched gaskets, time-consuming installation of strip profiles or long waiting times while injected foams cure on stacked shelves. Now Intertronics, together with sales partner DYMAX, have announced the GA-201 UV cure FIP gasket material which eliminates these problems.
Nonstick coating leaves zero waste behind
The days of wasting condiments - and other products - that stick stubbornly to the sides of their bottles may be gone, thanks to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) spinout LiquiGlide, which has licensed its nonstick coating to a major company. Developed in 2009 by MIT’s Kripa Varanasi and David Smith, LiquiGlide is a liquid-impregnated coating that acts as a slippery barrier between a surface and a viscous liquid.
Spark plasma sintering creates materials to capture waste heat
At Queen Mary University of London, Professor Mike Reece’s research group is developing new materials to transform waste heat into useful electrical energy in partnership with European Thermodynamics Ltd. Materials processing and transportation generates a large amount of waste heat energy - such as car exhaust. Yet with the right technology, this waste can become a valuable source of useful energy.
High strength epoxy targets structural bonding
Designed for high performance structural bonding in the aerospace and speciality OEM industries, Master Bond has announced the EP13SPND-2 one part, high temperature resistant epoxy. Featuring an impressive strength profile, EP13SPND-2 offers a tensile lap shear strength, compressive strength and tensile modulus of over 3,000, 18,000 and 500,000-550,000psi.
Aeronautic superalloys on show at Summer Science Exhibition
At any one time over half a million people are flying far above our heads in modern aircraft. Their lives depend on the performance of the special metals used inside jet engines, where temperatures can reach over 2000˚C. Cambridge researchers will be exhibiting these remarkable materials at this year’s Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition.
Laminate materials are stable between -55 and +125°C
A low loss laminate, developed for high speed applications, the I-TeraMT from Amphenol Invotec, has gained approval from Underwriters Laboratories.
Motor modules enhance production line flexibility
Beckhoff has added modules to its eXtended Transport System (XTS), increasing flexibility. The straight and curved motor modules (180°) are supplemented by variants with a radius of 22.5°, making new track geometries possible, such as full circles, inside or outside curves, or squares with rounded corners. The range of applications can now be further extended, for example, by a flexible rotary indexing table and individual track layouts.
Intertronics improves efficiency of FIP gaskets with new DYMAX UV cure material
Engineering and fitting of effective sealing has often been a rather time-consuming and at times unsatisfactory business, frequently involving moulded or pre-punched gaskets, time-consuming installation of strip profiles or long waiting times while injected foams cure on stacked shelves. Now Intertronics, together with sales partner DYMAX, have announced the new GA-201 UV cure FIP gasket material which in large measure eliminates these problems.
Breakthrough in separating metalised PCBs
As the lighting industry continues to expand production using metal LED boards, the need has grown for a reliable machine that can quickly separate these narrow metal panels without stress, and with equipment that won’t require a lot of maintenance. Fancort is introducing such a machine with the CL-100, which can handle single-sided, metalised, or FR-4 panels of any length.
MicroDot needle valve is 60% smaller than standard
Featuring a 60% smaller form factor than standard valves, the xQR41 series MicroDot needle valve has been introduced by Nordson EFD. It includes an exchangeable modular design for greater customisation and process control and a Quick Release (QR) clasp that allows easy removal of the fluid body to replace wetted parts in seconds.
