Micro SIM card connectors feature shell guide mechanism
AVX have announced the 5236 series µSIM memory card connectors from Kyocera Connector Products. They are available in both single and dual-card versions, both of which share a common PCB layout and feature 33% more signal pins than comparable connectors.
The 5236 series connectors feature a shell guide mechanism that prevents incorrect card insertion and unwanted ejection, enabling the secure operation of µSIM cards in mobile electronics, including smartphones and tablet PCs. Compact and low profile, with a minimal 0.7mm pitch, the series also features a normally closed internal card switch that detects the presence of an inserted card to lower overall power consumption, as well as a user-friendly push-push, spring-eject mechanism with an assured card ejection distance of 3.8mm for improved workability.
“Designed to provide mobile electronics engineers with an effective solution for reliably achieving the ever-expanding functionality that consumers demand, our 5236 Series µSIM memory card connectors provide several value-added features, including: significantly more signal pins than comparable connectors, a shell guide for wrong-card detection protection, and push-push type spring ejection system with mechanical and audible feedback,” said Nick Bogovich, Product Marketing and Systems Manager for Kyocera Connector Products at AVX.
Rated for 5V/0.5A per contact and operating temperatures spanning -40°C to 85°C, 5236 Series µSIM card connectors are RoHS compliant, halogen-free, and guaranteed for 3,000 mating cycles. The single-card version measures 16.2x14.4x1.30mm (LxWxH), and the dual-card version measures 17.22x16.28x2.75mm.
