B case size tantalums with low ESR
AVX’s 1210 B case size TCJ series of polymer tantalum capacitors launched last year is now available with even lower ESR, reduced from 70 to 45mΩ. For the design engineer this means lower output noise and improved ripple current in their circuits. It also means, faster pulse energy in key areas of the circuit, which has become much more important with the increased usage of battery power for handheld equipment.
NI, Freescale and Wind River Collaborate to Simplify Embedded Design
National Instruments has announced the release of the new NI cRIO-9012 high-performance, real-time controller in collaboration with Freescale Semiconductor and Wind River. The controller is based on Freescale’s MPC5200 processor built on Power Architecture technology and Wind River VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) to deliver fast performance while maintaining the ruggedness, reliability and low cost of the NI CompactRIO platform.
TI makes cars safer
Accelerating the trend towards safer, but less complex automotive chassis control applications, Texas Instruments has introduced a new symmetrical dual-core microcontroller (MCU). The TMS570 MCU is the first automotive processor solution to support a certification according to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61508 SIL3 standard - the highest level of safety that is designated for automotive applications. Co-developed with Robe...
UNIPOWER to Launch New Power Supplies at electronica
Unipower-Europe Ltd is well known for its wide range of AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC power conversion and distribution products for general industrial applications and will use electronica 2006 to give the first global public airing to several key power supplies that will find wide application throughout industry.
TCP/IP networking software suite from Green Hills
Green Hills Software has announced the next generation of GHNet, the Green Hills Software flagship TCP/IP networking software suite. GHNet is based on a field-proven dual-mode IPv4/IPv6 stack that is certified “IPv6 Ready” by Phase-2 of the IPv6 Ready Logo Program and has been through the rigors of TAHI, Moonv6 and IxANVL testing, providing additional product validation and completeness.
GUI Supports Power Components from Multiple Manufacturers
Power-One has announced that the latest version of the Z-One Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides the capability to configure, program, and monitor Point-Of-Load (POL) converters and Digital Power Managers (DPMs) obtained from any Z-AllianceTM compliant manufacturer. Power-One will be demonstrating this industry-first, multi-vendor functionality at Electronica 2006 in Munich.
Ultra-compact 6 and 12W open frame power supplies
PowerPax's UOP305 series is a 6W range offering a selection of 16 models each providing a dedicated single regulated output of between 3.3 and 24VDC with typical load regulation of +/- 5%. The 6W units measure just 55 x 27.8 x 17.8mm.
Fast and Flexible Vector Signal Analyzer
Keithley Instruments introduces the Model 2810 RF Vector Signal Analyzer, optimized for automated testing of wireless devices and transmitter circuits in production test environments, as well as in new product and device research and development. It features measurement speeds up to three times faster than competitive instruments in production test, takes up half the space, and costs half as much as competitive products.
Ultra-compact MOSFETs
Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched two new small signal, high-efficiency p-channel MOSFETs that combine high current switching functionality with low ON-resistance, low voltage operation and ultra-compact form factors. The new MOSFETs address requirements of mobile phones, portable navigation systems and other handheld devices, which are constantly offering new functionalities that eventually lead to an increase in total power consumption. ...
Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors for high voltage applications
AVX is extending its range of high voltage Multi Layer Ceramic Chips to include an industry standard voltage option of 630V. The passives specialist’s new 630V range offers high capacitance values, low leakage and small size, parameters often difficult to obtain for high voltage systems.
