Express Logic and PolyCore Software Announce Commercial RTOS Integration of Multicore Association’s MCAPI Communications API
Express Logic, Inc and PolyCore Software, Inc. today announced the first commercial RTOS integration of the Multicore Association’s recently released Multicore Communications API (MCAPI) specification. MCAPI provides an industry standard, implementation agnostic API for multicore systems communication. PolyCore Software’s Poly-Messenger/MCAPI is a communications framework simplifying multicore communication. Express Logic’s ThreadX RTOS is ...
Leading 150W Medical Grade Power Adapters Come With Class I or Class II Insulation
Tumbler Technologies + TRUMPower has introduced the TMP150 series of medical grade AC/DC desktop power adapters, which has both class I and class II insulation. The series is approved to UL 60601-1, CSA C22.2 No. 601.1, EN 60601-1 medical standards and complies with EN60601-1-2:2001 EMI standards including EN55011/FCC/VCCI class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN61000-3-2, EN61000-4-2, EN61000-4-3, EN61000-4-5, EN61000-4-11. The units are ...
ON Semiconductor Delivers Power over Ethernet
ON Semiconductor has announced the availability of the NCP1080 and NCP1081, two new members of its Power over Ethernet (PoE) product family. The NCP1081 is the industry’s highest power integrated Power over Ethernet Power Device (PoE-PD) supporting extended power ranges up to 40 watts (W) of regulated power delivered to the application load in a 2-pair configuration. Both devices fully support the IEEE 802.3af standard and the NCP1081 enabl...
Murata launches inductors with low DC resistance
Murata has developed two new series of low-profile wirewound chip inductors for use in DC-DC converter applications. Both the LQH3NP_M0 series and LQH3NP_G0 series of inductors offer low DC resistance, vital for DC-DC converter applications as it prevents energy dissipation from the inductor, improving the converter’s overall efficiency.
Emulator from Nu Horizons speeds up programming and allows real time system behaviour analysis
Atmel’s AVR ONE is now available from Nu Horizons Electronics. The emulator speeds up programming and supports non-intrusive observation and logging of how the embedded system performs. This allows the software engineer a clear view of real time system behaviour, without affecting or modifying the real time characteristics of the microcontroller.
8 to 12W DC/DC family in compact DIP-24 package from XP Power
XP Power has announced three families of low power, isolated and regulated DC/DC converters. In an industry standard metal-cased DIP-24 package measuring just 31.75 x 20.32 x 10.40 mm (1.25 x 0.80 x 0.40 inches), the converters offer 8, 10 and 12 Watt output models with a 2:1 input voltage range. The DIP-24 format makes them suitable as a low cost drop-in replacement or a power upgrade in existing end products; saving the need to re-design the PC...
Low Profile SMT Connector System from Advanced Interconnections Corp
The Mezza-pede 1mm SMT Connectors from Advanced Interconnections Corp. are designed for 1mm pitch micro board-to-board and flex cable-to-board applications. The screw-machined, low profile Mezza-pede Connector system is especially suited for high reliability applications such as providing power to a tunable laser since this connector passes mixed flowing gas (MFG) tests, ensuring continuous performance in the field.
Cherry miniature switches and sensors provide automated operation for valve actuation
Cherry Electrical Products has released an application note giving details of its miniature switches and sensors for operating automated valves in inaccessible or remote locations or when the use of manual handwheels presents practical difficulties. Valves are often operated by a manual handwheel, but there are many circumstances when this is impossible – for example, when the size or differential of a valve means the handwheel pull is beyon...
Toshiba announces ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller
Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced a general-purpose ARM Cortex-M3 core-based microcontroller suitable for digital AV applications. The device is the first in a full line-up of Cortex-M3 devices that will become available during 2009 and is the first ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller from a Japanese semiconductor manufacturer. Samples will be available in December 2008 and mass production will start in March 2009.
SIM card connectors from AVX include low profile, lockable and Combi styles
The Elco connector division of AVX Corporation has added three new versions to its successful 9162 family of SIM card connectors, designed to reduce space and provide extra security. With end users demanding ever slimmer products AVX Elco’s new slim, slide-in 9162 connector reduces the overall installed height of the SIM card to less than 1.70mm, giving a profile from the PCB to the underside of the card of just 0.70mm.
