Investment looks promising for industrial 3D printing technology
EOS has announced its collaboration with Continental, with the purchase of several EOS M 290 systems, Continental is investing in industrial 3D printing as a production technology. The company is deploying the EOS systems to produce metal components in series and has also received key support from EOS in installing the systems, training employees, developing applications, and launching manufacturing capacities.
Focus on rapid operational availability
The EOS M 290 enables Continental to quickly and cost-effectively produce metal parts using additive manufacturing (AM) technology. The system is capable of reliably reproducing high quality parts and enables innovative approaches to production. To leverage the technology’s potential within the shortest possible time, apart from purchasing the systems, Continental has also collaborated extensively with EOS at other levels: EOS installed the systems at the Continental plants within only two months and subsequently helped the customer’s staff to launch its additive manufacturing capacities. The close cooperation when introducing the systems at Continental is being supplemented and continued by the comprehensive local EOS service network.
Markus Glasser, Senior Vice President Region Export at EOS said of the collaboration: “We are very proud of our joint project with Continental and look forward to supporting the customer throughout every stage of the project. In particular, the strong spirit of teamwork between our two companies was a key criterion in Continental’s decision to work together with EOS. We will also be very happy to provide Continental with any assistance it may need in other fascinating projects going forward.”
EOS M 290 for high-quality components
With a building volume of 250x250x325mm, the EOS M 290 allows a fast, flexible and cost-effective production of metal parts directly from CAD data. The system’s intuitive user interface, the intelligent software concept with a combination of open and standardised parameter sets and the improved filter system are specially designed for the industrial production. A broad range of validated materials and processes as well as extensive software solutions for data preparation and quality management complete the solution portfolio provided by the EOS M 290 system. It enables users to efficiently address the challenges of tomorrow’s production using additive manufacturing. With a currently installed base of over 500 machines worldwide, the EOS M 290 represents one of the most successful AM systems for processing metal materials that the market has to offer.
