The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA ) has announced the election of four industry leaders to serve as members of the association's Board of Directors. Elected to the board for the first time are Rob Hill and Marshall Miles. Alex Levran, Ph.D. and Bharat S. Shah were each re-elected to serve a second three-year term. Elections were conducted at the PSMA annual meeting held in conjunction with the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) in Austin, Texas.
It is a pleasure to welcome our new directors at a very exciting time for PSMA, said Chuck Mullett of ON Semiconductor and Chairman Pro Tem of PSMA. As an association of active, energetic volunteers, we are proud to serve the industry and support the global pursuit of new and more efficient ways to generate and process electrical power.

Rob Hill has over 16 years of experience in the power industry, with a dual role at Murata Power Solutions as VP- Global Product Development & Business Unit Lead -Board Mount Power Products. He was previously an active member of the European PSMA, where he served five years as a member of the management committee. I am very proud and excited to be elected, Hill remarked. I am looking forward to working with PSMA in helping further the best interests of the power industry as a whole.

Marshall Miles is founder and Senior Partner of Power Perceptions-a power electronics industry consulting firm offering services related to strategic planning, technology and product roadmap development. Miles served on the Board of Directors for the Power Sources Manufacturers Association and on the steering committee for the Applied Power Electronics Conference. He has a BSEE and MBA from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a Masters degree from Clemson University.

Alex Levran is Chief Technology Officer for Power-One and holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University. Dr. Levran owns five US patents related to power electronic technology and continually educates engineers, manages engineering organizations and designs innovative products in the industry.

Bharat S. Shah has been involved in the PSMA for over twenty years, making positive contributions in many of his activities such as energy efficient products, infrastructure and evaluation of renewable energy. Currently Shah is the VP of Strategic Technology for Emerson Network Power, on the Board of PMBus (Digital Power Management), and a representative for the Green Grid organization. His desire is to continue to serve the PSMA board and make a valuable contribution to the growth of PSMA, as well as businesses of the members of PSMA.

Our Board of Directors oversees the many projects carried out in our ten active committees - which might be more accurately called 'working groups,' because this is where the work gets done, Mullett continued. As one of the three sponsors of the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) we bring first-hand knowledge of the industry to complement the academic flavor of the other sponsors. Recent accomplishments of PSMA include the first phase of a study, 'Power Supply in Package (PSiP) and Power Supply on Chip (PwrSoC)' now being followed by phase two, which will include physical and electrical analysis of state-of-the-art miniaturized power conversion products. Our Energy Efficiency Committee works closely with governmental agencies to foster more efficient power conversion and help shape efficiency regulations throughout the world. In addition, our Alternate Energy Committee is studying the ways to harness renewable energy in the future. We welcome our new Directors and are looking forward to their guidance and participation.
