MSC Gleichmann has become the first distributor in Europe to offer a series of video tutorials that show how Renesas’ Applilet EZ tool and an LED lighting development board from the microcontroller (MCU) maker can simplify solid state lighting system design, cutting both costs and time-to-market. Applilet EZ is a software tool that generates device driver code to initialise and use on-chip peripherals integrated into Renesas’ family of lighting-specific MCUs.

The six short videos, presented by Alex Zaretsky, responsible for Renesas’ LED lighting business in Europe, provide 32 minutes of instruction in total. They explain clearly and simply how the Applilet EZ graphical user interface can be used to configure LED lighting to create single or multi-colour dimming, colour mixing, and flashing sequences. They also demonstrate how to implement Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) and DMX512 communications using the tool.

To further save time, Applilet EZ automatically sets up many system parameters based on the development kit in use. The kit is selected from a drop-down menu.

Adrian Elms, Business Development Director for MSC Gleichmann UK, said, “It’s a mark of our close and long-standing cooperation with Renesas Electronics Europe that they’ve chosen to launch these tutorials in partnership with MSC Gleichmann. It’s our goal to bring the latest and most valuable technical resources to our customers at the earliest opportunity and this is one more example of that philosophy in action.”
