Printed electronics convention scheduled for March 2015
Next year's Large-area, Organic & Printed Electronics Convention (LOPEC) has been scheduled to take place at the beginning of March 2015 in Munich, Germany. Organisers of the event, Messe München and the Organic and Printed Electronics Association (OE-A), expect the number of exhibitors and visitors to continue to increase, as it has year on year.
LOPEC 2015 will feature presentations from a large number of international speakers, covering topics ranging from business strategies to industry developments, production issues and applications.
More than half the number of visitors at last year’s event came from outside Germany. The top five countries were the UK, France, USA, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan. LOPEC has, therefore, become an international show.
Based on a combination of materials and large area, high volume deposition and patterning techniques, printed technology enables a wide variety of innovative applications. These materials allow conductive plastics to be printed on paper, textiles and foils at a low cost to create thin, flexible and transparent electronic components. These components can be used in the automotive, energy and pharmaceutical sectors, for packaging, lighting and displays. The automotive sector has already used printed electronics for printed aerials, smart textiles with pressure sensors to recognise seat occupancy and self-dimming rear-view mirrors, while the medical sector has used them for medical test strips.
