DSEI 2017: I/O modules suit PCIe, VPX or XMC systems
The PCIe-based AcroPack Series of general purpose I/O modules for embedded computing applications from Acroag are an extended version of the mPCIe specification and feature a 100-pin connector to handle the I/O. The SWaP-C (size, weight power and cost) optimised modules are a tiny 70mm x 30mm in size and weigh on average only .05 ounces. Each module uses less than 5W of power and boards start at $395 per module.
The modules plug into connectors on AcroPack carriers to add A/D, D/A, serial, digital I/O, and FPGA communication in any combination for embedded applications running on Linux, Windows, or VxWorks operating systems. AcroPack carrier cards for PCIe, VPX or XMC systems hold up to four mini-PCIe or AcroPack mezzanine modules. The VPX carrier also has a conduction-cooled option.
For easy integration of the AP modules with real time software application programs, Acromag offers C libraries for VxWorks and other operating systems.
The libraries provide generic routines (source code included) to handle reads, writes, interrupts, and other functions.
Demonstration programs enable the developer to quickly exercise the I/O modules before attaching the routines to the application program. This diagnostic tool can save hours of troubleshooting and debugging.
The COTS product line of AcroPacks are ROHS compliant and ideal for scientific development labs, military and aerospace applications, the defense industry, and automation applications.
The modules will be introduced at DSEI in London (September 12-15).
