Coilcraft to exhibit at APEC 2016
Coilcraft’s Director of Technical Marketing, Len Crane, will be participating in several technical sessions at APEC 2016 starting on Saturday, March 19th, when he will be a panelist at a special pre-show workshop titled, “Power Magnetics at High Frequency - Solving the Black Magic!” The workshop is being sponsored by the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) and the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS). Mr. Crane will be giving a Technology Demonstration on SPICE Models for Power Magnetics.
On Tuesday, March 22nd, Mr. Crane will be participating in the Exhibitor Seminars with a presentation titled, New Power Inductors for High Frequency DC/DC Converters. The presentation will be held in Room 101A from 1:30 to 2:00 PM and will feature Coilcraft’s XEL40xx Series of power inductors that feature lower inductance values, fully optimised for high frequency applications. They also offer extremely low DCR (as low as 2.5 mOhms) and ultra-low AC losses, resulting in the highest efficiency across a range of frequencies (2 to 5 MHz).
Mr. Crane will also be presenting in Wednesday’s Industry Session titled: “High Frequency Magnetics; Black Magic, Art or Science?” His talk will cover Selecting Magnetics for High Frequency Converters; Practical Hints and Suggestions for Getting Started. The session is being held from 2:00 to 5:30 PM in Room 201A.
Len Crane has more than thirty years of inductor design and application experience with Coilcraft, serving as Engineering Manager for nineteen years and Technical Marketing Director since 2005. In his present role, Mr. Crane focuses on the application of Coilcraft products; developing application notes and web tools for the optimal selection and use of Coilcraft inductors. He holds a B.S. Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters of Engineering Management from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
