AVX to exhibit at international symposium
AVX is exhibiting and presenting two technical papers about their advanced polymer tantalum and base metal electrode (BME) ceramic capacitors for high-reliability space applications at the second annual Space Passive Component Days (SPCD) International Symposium, which will take place October 12 – 14, 2016 in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
Jointly organised by the European Space Agency (ESA), the French National Center for Space Studies (CNES), the German Aerospace Center (DLA), and the European Space Components Coordination (ESCC), the SPCD Symposium is already recognised as the premier European conference dedicated to passive components for space applications.
Designed to facilitate the exchange of high-level technical information about recent industry development and trends between leading global experts in manufacturing, academia, and government agencies, SPCD 2016 will feature three days of training sessions, technical seminars and presentations, and an industry exhibition.
AVX representatives will be exhibiting and promoting their advanced polymer tantalum and BME ceramic capacitors approved for use in ESCC and NASA designs at Booth #4, and will also deliver in-depth technical presentations on both topics.
On Wednesday, October 12, Jan Petrzilek, R&D manager at AVX Czech Republic, will present “Polymer Tantalum Capacitors for Advanced High Reliability Applications” during the New Developments session, and on Friday, October 14, AVX Product Marketing Manager Michael Conway will present “Base Metal Ceramic Capacitor Design and Manufacturing for Space and Military Applications” as part of the Evaluation and Qualification session. For more information, please consult the SPCD 2016 conference program.
“Passive components represent more than 80% of the electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) parts employed in spacecraft, and we’re extremely proud of the recent contributions we’ve made to this industry, so we’re very excited to participate in and contribute to the technical program at the Space Passive Components Day International Symposium,” said Michael Conway, product marketing manager, advanced ceramic products, AVX.
“AVX is the first, and currently only, company to be recognised as a qualified supplier of space-level BME X7R MLCCs for use in American and European military and aerospace designs. These parts exhibit CV capabilities superior to those of PME MLCCs, which have long been the standard for the global aerospace industry, and provide the extremely high-reliability performance this market requires while also delivering higher capacitance values in significantly smaller cases sizes, enabling revolutionary reductions in board space, weight, and component count that can directly translate into lower launch costs.”
