Saline Lectronics has installed an SAR-800-B 1-CL High-Performance Router from Schunk Electric. Lectronics now can offer customers consistent results for odd-shaped or high-reliability PCBAs, as well as more flexibility with depanelization methods.

Lectronics and its customers have already benefited from the tool technology kit with automatic tool exchange, broken tool detection, and bit control for different levels. Additionally, the router offers automatic pin supports and uses less pressure than other routing solutions. It also equips Lectronics with much faster setup times, using Gerber data/CAD information to determine where pins should be for the best routing solution.

Steve Telgen, Lectronics’ Pre-Production Engineer, commented, “The new Schunk router will help to increase the quality for PCB assemblies that have customer-driven stringent requirements for low-stress depanelization. Additionally, it allows us to satisfy our customers who do not desire scoring.”

The SAR-800-B 1-CL Router is the smallest of its kind with a bit working area of 450 x 400 mm. It offers the shortest cycle times in the industry due to high-speed linear motors from the own production and minimal dead times. With offline creation of the NC programs using a CAD/CAM system, simple operation and maximum ease-of-use, the router features the latest IPC technology.

Jason Sciberras, Lectronics’ Manufacturing Manager, stated, “This is a great new tool for our production needs specifically as we manufacture more assemblies for the aerospace industry and other high-reliability markets. Additionally, this router will allow us to depanelize PCB assemblies much faster, and give us much more consistent, accurate and reliable results.”
