Anderson Power Products to showcase latest connectors at electronica 2012

SPEC Pak is a highly configurable, rugged, environmentally sealed family of connectors. The IP68 shell conforms to industry standards for flammability and weather-ability, and the core contact technology housed within the SPEC Pak shell has been proven reliable for more than 50 years. Combining the power, signal, and ground contacts with the wide array of colored touch safe Powerpole housings provide engineers thousands of design options for the most demanding applications.

APP’s latest addition to the SPEC Pak series, the Mid Power SPEC Pak, has power handling capabilities up to 80 amps at 600 volts, AC or DC, with signal. This interconnect will accept up to 4 power contacts ranging in size from 12 to 6 AWG (3.3 to 13.3 mm²) and up to 8 auxiliary contacts ranging in size from 24 to 12 AWG ( 0.25 to 13.3 mm²)

Also on display, APP’s Saf-D-Grid connector system is ideal for use in the direct connection of DC electronic devices to a DC micro grid or renewable energy sources, such as Solar or Wind power. The Saf-D-Grid connector system meets international safety requirements for low voltage applications to 400 VDC, including UL950 and IEC60950. The low profile panel receptacle is designed to fit the standard panel cut-out for IEC320 C14 outlets, while providing touch safe connections up to 20 amperes at 600 VDC. The connectors are hot plug rated up to 700A in-rush current at 400 volts and shield the user from arc flash during un-mating.

For printed circuit board applications, APP will be highlighting its SBS 75x connector family, which provides a touch-safe and high power connector with two primary and four auxiliary power positions in a compact and ergonomic design. The patented dual pole SBS 75xPR right angle PCB connector provides two power contacts rated 105 amps and four auxiliary power contacts for applications requiring signal or low power capability up to 20 amps.

The latest addition to the SBS family, the SBS 75G connector, is a 3 pole connector with a first-mate / last-break center position, UL rated for ground or power and available as a genderless wire housing or a right angle PCB. The genderless design allows both sides of the connection to be touch safe, which is valuable in applications involving batteries, capacitors, or cord sets functioning as a jumper, while the right angle PCB connector has a compact power to size ratio that maximizes available PCB real estate.
