BTU’s Solar Experts Present at CPTIC 2012
BTU International, Inc. announces that Dr. Frank Bottari and Dr. Tianming Bao presented technical papers at the China PV Technology International Conference (CPTIC) that took place March 21-22, 2012 in Shanghai, China.
The CPTIC conference promotes technical and business exchange in all areas of the photovoltaic industry with a focus on industrial applications. This is the first year that CPTIC was held as a standalone conference and it had a successful turnout of nearly 1,000 participants. Papers were presented by authors from China, the United States, Europe and Taiwan.
Dr. Bao’s presentation, “In-line Thermal Annealing to Repair Finished c-Si Solar Cells,” described how thermal annealing processes have been shown to improve the efficiency of silicon solar cells through a number of mechanisms. Dr. Bao is process applications manager/senior scientist at BTU-Shanghai and holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.
Dr. Bottari’s presentation, “Rapid Metallization Firing of Metal Contacts for High Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells,” reported on the progress made in the metallization firing process in silicon solar cell manufacturing to achieve higher cell efficiencies through optimization of both the front and back contacts. Dr. Bottari is BTU’s director of solar applications, based in the company’s headquarters in the U.S., and holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Brown University.
