PCIM Asia 2024 concludes its most expansive event to date
PCIM Asia 2024, Asia’s leading international platform for communication and exchange in power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy and energy management, concluded on 30th August 2024 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre in China.
Setting new records across nearly all metrics, the 2024 edition was the largest and most comprehensive iteration of the event to date. Floor space grew by a record-breaking 8,000 sqm to a total of 20,000 sqm, with this expansion matched by significant increases in both exhibitor and visitor participation.

With exhibitor participation at an all-time high, this year’s event drew attendance from across the power electronics sector. Market leaders showcased their latest offerings in power semiconductor components, integrated circuits, passive components, power converters, testing and measurement, and more.
Visitor attendance also surpassed previous records. Engineers, researchers, and decision-makers from sectors including industrial electronics, e-mobility, and renewable energy gathered to stay informed about the latest solutions and industry developments.
To promote further dialogue and collaboration, the exhibition presented a series of industry forums, exhibitor forums, and round-table discussions, covering topics ranging from wide-bandgap semiconductors and e-mobility to eVTOL development. At these sessions, representatives from top companies and leading researchers shared insights on development trends, new market applications, and cutting-edge research.
PCIM Asia Conference and awards
Alongside the exhibition, the PCIM Asia Conference 2024 once again brought together leading experts and researchers to speak on technical advancements and applications in power electronics.

Attendees praised the conference’s depth and relevance, noting its effectiveness in facilitating industry-academia partnerships and its focused discussions on key advancements including vehicle electrification, renewable energy, and wide bandgap semiconductors. Participants also emphasised its dual role in promoting scientific advancement while supporting the translation of research findings into tangible industrial solutions.
To honour outstanding work in power electronics and support innovation in the industry, the conference also presented its annual awards. Sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics (Shanghai), this year’s Best Paper Award, recognising the best overall submission at the conference, went to Mr Gonzalo Picun of Soitec, for his paper, “A 150 & 200mm engineered substrate increasing SiC power device current density up to 30%”
Designed to encourage emerging talent and recognise engineers under the age of 35, this year’s Young Engineer Award, sponsored by Semikron Danfoss, was awarded to Mr Daichi Yosho of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
Finally, celebrating achievements from university faculty and students, the University Scientist Award, sponsored by Infineon Technologies, was presented to the following five recipients:

PCIM Asia is jointly organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt and Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. The next edition will take place from 14 – 16 August 2025 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Shanghai, China.
