Power supplies certified for medical applications
The DTM165 series of medically certified 165W external power supplies has been introduced by TDK Corporation. Tested to the 3rd edition of IEC 60601-1, the products have 4,000V AC isolation from input to output and earth leakage currents of less than 300µA.
Socionext to exhibit ultrasound imaging solution at MEDICA
At the MEDICA exhibition in Düsseldorf next week, Socionext will showcase its state-of-the-art viewphii solution for ultrasound imaging in Hall 10 booth H19. Socionext has miniaturised a conventional ultrasound imaging machine for medical use down to passport size and made it completely cableless. It has been designed with Socionext’s leading-edge System LSI technologies.
ARM to deliver accurate & trusted healthcare data
ARM and HeartToHeart Networks have announced a secure digital health solution for use by healthcare providers caring for patients with neurodegenerative conditions. This Remote Health Management (RHM) solution utilises mobile devices enabled with a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) based on ARM TrustZone technology combined with HeartToHeart’s Structured Intelligence care management platform.
Extra low leakage power supplies suit medical technology
Expanding its Medline family, Powerbox has introduced the OFM30 30W extra low leakage power supplies which offer best in class EMC for CF class medical systems. Designed to meet and exceed new safety standards for medical systems and equipment, the power supplies are based upon an innovative building practice, reducing leakage current below 10µA and offering an EMC Class B average margin of 6dB.
A contact-less approach to measuring patient vital signs
Murata has introduced two MEMS sensors that use BCG (BallistoCardioGraphic) techniques to detect and measure a patient’s heart rate without the need for any wires or connections. Designed for continuous patient monitoring at elderly care centres, hospitals or in the home, the SCA11H sensor node and SCA10H sensor module can be used in applications such as bed occupancy monitoring and sleep quality analysis.
M12 cable connectors now offered in stainless steel
Expanding its range of M12 cable connectors, PROVERTHA has announced the release of stainless steel (V4A) versions. The male and female versions are specifically designed for the requirements encountered in medical technology and the food industry, however can also be used in cleanroom environments in industrial and off-shore applications.
Applied embedded board for high-end pharmacy POS solution
In order to help the customers achieve time-to-market goals as well as reducing total-cost-of-ownership in the field of high-end pharmacy POS application, DFI’s embedded board (with product longevity and high reliability) deployed a flexible and innovative solution to cater to all the requirements of customisable POS terminal.
3D printing uniform ‘blocks’ of embryonic stem cells
Scientists from Tsinghua University, Beijing, and Drexel University, Philadelphia, have developed a 3D printing method capable of producing highly uniform ‘blocks’ of embryonic stem cells. These cells, which are capable of generating any and all cell types in the body, could be used as the ‘lego bricks’ to build tissue constructs, larger structures of tissues and potentially even micro-organs.
The industry’s first 16-channel ultrasound AFEs
Health care diagnostic imaging devices, from customary prenatal care to advanced cardiac imaging equipment, are increasingly expected to provide more precise images, while also becoming more portable. To meet these demands, Texas Instruments has introduced the AFE5818 and AFE5816 families, which are claimed to be the industry’s first 16-channel ultrasound AFEs.
Intelligent packaging to be developed for pharmaceuticals
The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) is part of a UK based consortium developing technologies that will spearhead the commercialisation of intelligent pharmaceutical packaging. The project titled ‘REMEDIES’, launched in 2014 and due for completion March 2018, is headed by GlaxoSmithKline with research led by the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Manufacturing. It brings together key players in the pharmaceutical supply ...
