An augmented reality app from Electronic Assembly enlivens the uniTFT display module, with the means to display in-depth information.

Pointing a smartphone or tablet at the app, which is based on a print advertisement, brings the module to life, says the company. A short film is launched on the display module and, with the aid of a 3D model, the app also provides information on the 5inch screen.

Information for the module, provided via the app, is in the form of videos explaining the performance and options when used as a control unit. Videos explain how to program an entry screen with the display module, how to incorporate a keyboard, the range of settings the touch panel offers and how to feed in analogue signals and create virtual measurement instruments on the screen.

With the aid of a 3D model, the app also explains the complex components of the display module which range from PCAP, sound and real-time clock as well as USB, I2C, SPI and RS-232 interfaces, through to a card slot for a micro SD memory card.

According to the company, the display module is the first of its kind to offer the option of combining pre-defined objects on the screen, rotating them, zooming in on them and assigning attributes. The range of possibilities offered by the display module increases the productivity of systems integrators and developers, by allowing developers to produce control elements and display tools graphically and to equip them with real functions.

The app is available via Google Play for devices with an Android OS; iOS users can source it from the Apple App Store free of charge.
