MSC adds ARM9 Module to nanoRISC® Family of Processor Modules
MSC Vertriebs GmbH has announced the availability of the latest member of its nanoRISC family of embedded processor modules. The NANORISC-S3C2416 is equipped with the Samsung ARM9 S3C2416 processor clocked at 400MHz and can hold up to 128 Mbytes of DDR2 DRAM and up to 1 Gbyte of NAND Flash. A microSD card holder on the module enables the addition of Flash memory cards. The nanoRISC interface standard provides for all popular embedded I/O signals such as Ethernet, USB, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C and audio. The module is compatible with the previously announced nanoRISC modules carrying the Samsung ARM Cortex™-A8 CPUs S5PC100 or S5PV210, respectively.
The The 70 x 50mm nanoRISC module consumes less than 2W of power and can be operated without any cooling. It is interchangeable with the other two nanoRISC modules from MSC if the minimum feature set is used. This opens up diverse performance choices for the same system or baseboard, and incorporates a higher level of supply security in case of component obsolescence or other supply issues. Future enhancements to the MSC nanoRISC family will further widen the list of alternative devices, and the ecosystem of hardware choices, driver support and Operating Systems will be completed giving the user an unprecedented low total cost of ownership, especially for high-volume applications.
Samples of the NANORISC-S3C2416 module are available immediately.
For evaluation and test of the nanoRISC family of processor modules, a Starterkit is available consisting of a versatile 3.5” baseboard with power supply, 7” TFT and cable set for out-of-the-box operation.
