Weidmüller release new Raspberry Pi 4 case
Weidmüller has unveiled their new Raspberry Pi 4 case, the u-maker box, designed with the specific needs of makers, testing labs, R&D departments, and various industries in mind.
Now available on Conrad's sourcing platform, the u-maker box is crafted to offer robust protection for Raspberry Pi 4 used in controlling applications and smart home setups. This versatile case is not only easily workable, customisable, and extendable, but also fits seamlessly into any switchboard cabinet and adheres to all DIN rail standards. It provides a tool-free solution for protecting and mounting electronic circuitry.
The case features removable panels, facilitating easy routing of cables and connectors. This design consideration is especially beneficial for projects centred around Raspberry Pi, where protection and accessibility are key. The Basis Kit in the u-maker box accommodates a Raspberry Pi and an additional 5.08 base board, with screws provided for secure fitting. Side panels can be detached to manage cables and connectors, and the housing allows for flexible expansion to accommodate other electronic modules, including a fan for enhanced cooling if needed.
Ease of use is a prominent feature of the u-maker box. Its black casing includes magnets at each corner, allowing for toolless opening, closing, and expansion. The cases are also stackable, and pre-drilled holes are available for screws and nuts to fix circuitry boards securely inside the box.
An innovative aspect of the u-maker box is its compatibility with 3D-printed accessories. Users can access an extensive online library of 3D templates from Weidmüller, which includes various side panels, cable clips, fan mounts, and bases, ready for downloading and printing.
In terms of mounting options, the u-maker box is incredibly versatile. It includes two removable clips for adapting to a range of action camera mounts and comes with a mount suitable for switchboards and DIN rails. The entire package is now accessible on the Conrad Sourcing Platform.
Dr Christian von Toll, head of Weidmüller Germany and manager of the DACH region, expressed his satisfaction with Conrad's dynamic expansion of product lines, appreciating their promptness in adding new products. He also acknowledged the positive customer feedback regarding the ease of integrating Conrad's electronic product catalogues into in-house procurement systems.
