Ambient light & proximity sensor saves battery power
Integrating an IR emitter, photo detectors for proximity and ambient light, a signal processing IC and a 16-bit ADC, the VCNL4040 has been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. The three-in-one sensor saves power as a proximity sensor by disabling touch screens until a user is detected and uses its integrated ambient light function for display/keypad adaptive brightness control and backlighting.
MOSFET enhances reliability in portable electronics
Providing increased power density and reliability for portable electronics, a 20V n-channel TrenchFET power MOSFET has been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. According to the manufacturer, the SiA466EDJ offers the industry's highest package-limited continuous drain current for a 20V MOSFET in the 2x2mm footprint area: its 25A package-limited continuous drain current is 13% higher than the closest competing device.
Thick film power resistor covers 0.016Ω to 700kΩ
Targeting automotive, industrial and military applications, Vishay has released an AEC-Q200-qualified, 25W thick film power resistor in a compact surface-mount TO-252 style (DPAK) package. Saving space compared with previous solutions, the Vishay Sfernice DTO25 provides power dissipation of at least 3W on the PCB, and a wide range of resistance values.

RGBW colour sensor integrates signal processing IC
Providing ambient light spectral sensitivity with responses close to that of the human eye, a digital RGBW sensor has been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. The VEML6040 incorporates photo-pin-diodes (RGBW) and a signal processing IC while offering an I²C bus interface for simple operation. The device senses red, green, blue and white light with 16-bit resolution for each colour channel.
0.47 to 47µH inductor is suitable for automotive use
Vishay has introduced an automotive-grade IHLP low-profile, high-current inductor in the 4040 case size featuring a continuous operating temperature range of +55 to +180°C. Offering a low profile of 4.0mm and a frequency range of up to 1MHz, the Vishay Dale IHLP-4040DZ-8A provides a wide range of inductance values from 0.47 to 47µH.
Rectifiers offer ESD capability in a 1.7mm profile
AEC-Q101-qualified 100-600V standard rectifiers, which combine ESD capability with a wide range of current ratings from 10 to 20A , have been released by Vishay Intertechnology. Offered in an SMPD (TO-263AC) package, which features a 1.7mm profile and is footprint-compatible with the D²PAK, the SE10DxHM3/1, SE12DxHM3/1 and SE20DxHM3/1 are suitable for space-constrained applications.
Resistors' failure rate suits critical space applications
Enhancing its E/H series of precision MIL-PRF-55342-qualified thin film surface-mount resistor chips, Vishay has introduced a device offering a 'T' level failure rate for critical space applications. Intended for satellite and communication applications with stringent performance requirements, the E/H series' all-sputtered wraparound terminations provide excellent adhesion and dimensional uniformity.
Neutral ground resistors operate up to +760 °C
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a series of neutral ground resistors for industrial power systems. Consisting of the company's GRE1 high-power, high-current grid resistors mounted in rugged, weatherproof IP23-rated enclosures with extremely high voltage insulation, Milwaukee Resistors NGR series devices combine high line-neutral and system voltages with high-temperature performance to +760 °C.
Switches' 0.01μW power consumption suits wearables
Claimed to be the smallest such devices in the industry, three 200Ω precision monolithic quad SPST analogue switches have been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. The DG2501, DG2502 and DG2503 are supplied in the ultra-compact 4x4 bump array WCSP to save space in wearable electronics and sensors, as well as consumer and communication devices.
500V MOSFETs feature low RDS(on) of 190-380mΩ
Developed to assist customers in achieving higher performance/efficiency standards such as the 80 PLUS standards, 500V MOSFETs have been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. The 11 devices expand the company’s 500V D series of high-voltage MOSFETs, which are optimised for operation in SMPS to 500W.
Diode saves PCB space for smartphone & tablet ESD protection
Providing a reverse avalanche breakdown voltage above 15.5V alongside a low forward voltage, Vishay has released a Bidirectional And symmetrical (BiAs) single-line ESD protection diode for portable electronics in the ultra-compact LLP1006-2L package.
Automotive thin film chip resistor family extended
Now available in 0402 and 1206 case sizes, the PATT precision automotive thin film chip resistor family has been extended by Vishay Intertechnology. The devices are offered with gold-plated terminals for conventional solder assembly and conductive glueable board mount technologies, as well as high-temperature operation to +155°C with 100% power dissipation, derated linearly to +250°C.
Inductors suit commercial & automotive applications
Providing a wide range of inductance values from 0.22 to 15µH, Vishay has announced two IHLP high-current inductors in the 2020 case size. The IHLP-2020CZ-51 and automotive-grade IHLP-2020CZ-5A are suited for voltage regulator modules and DC/DC converters in high-temperature commercial and automotive applications.
Rectifiers increase power density in SMF package
Six rectifiers, which offer an increased power density in the compact, low-profile, surface-mount SMF eSMP package, have been released by Vishay Intertechnology. Alongside forward currents of 1 and 2A, the AEC-Q101-qualified devices provide low forward voltage drops and leakage currents, reducing power losses and improving efficiency in automotive applications.
Resistor combines 7W power with 1mΩ resistance
Designed to save space in automotive, industrial, computer, and consumer applications, the WSHM2818 surface-mount Power Metal Strip resistor has been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. In a compact 2818 case size, the resistor combines a high 7W power rating with a low resistance values down to 1mΩ.
Inductor removes the need for separate board-level shielding
Featuring an integrated e-shield for the reduction of EMI, an automotive-grade inductor in a 4040 case size has been released by Vishay Intertechnology. The IHLE-4040DC-5A contains the electric field associated with EMI in a tin-plated copper integrated shield, providing up to -20dB of electric field reduction at 1cm when the integrated shield is connected to ground.
Power stage solutions address POL design challenges

Optimised for computing, telecomms and industrial applications, the vPolyTan series from Vishay is a family of surface-mount polymer tantalum moulded chip capacitors, available in five compact case sizes. Epoxy-coated mini sensors offer fast automotive temperature sensing
Vishay has introduced a series of epoxy-coated mini sensors, optimised for automotive temperature probes. Built on advanced NTC thermistor technology, the AEC-Q200-qualified NTCLE213E3... series of sensors deliver fast response times lower than 5s in air, thanks to a small body diameter of under 2.5mm. The sensors also offer a rugged design to withstand thermal shocks.
