Following in the footsteps of the famous four
London’s Abbey Road Studios is one of the most famous recording studios in the world – and of course, is also the setting for one of the most recognisable album covers (The Beatles’ Abbey Road). It has also been witness to countless other landmark recordings over the past 85 years, from Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Oasis to Adele, Frank Ocean, Ed Sheeran and Amy Winehouse, Abbey Road has also been the destination for 100s of iconic...
Eleven custom IMRAKS supplied to BT Tower
Standing at 191m tall, the Grade II listed BT Tower is one of London’s most recognisable modern structures. As well as being a tourist landmark, it is still a major UK communications hub containing microwave infrastructure links and the TV Network Switching Centre. Continued expansion by BT has required Verotec to supply a further 11 special IMRAKS to extend an existing installation.
Heavy duty rack offers users good all-round access
The new 3U RackCase PRO from Verotec is available in standard depths of 240, 350 and 460mm, with custom depths available to special order. It offers users good all-round access and easy assembly and, reducing configuration time and cost, it does away with the need for drilling when installing heavy components, chassis trays, brackets and electro-mechanical components.
BBC’s broadcast cabinet of choice
Verotec’s IMRAK 1400 has been one of the top broadcast cabinets in the sector for several years. Its design enables it to be configured in a virtually limitless number of different ways and its range of dedicated accessory products adds significantly to its functionality.
A potential major step forward in computational architecture
The Computational Intelligence Laboratory of Nottingham Trent University is part of the Si elegans project, set up in 2013 to create an emulation platform for the C. elegans nervous system. The objective is to create a reconfigurable, scalable and modular open-access computational platform that will provide a technological blueprint for a new era of brain-like computational architectures. C. elegans is one mm long and 80 µm in diameter soil...
Verotec acquires IMRAK 1400
Verotec, who hold the IP for many ex-Vero Electronics metal enclosures, has acquired the stock and assets from CommNetworks for another well-known Vero product, the IMRAK 1400 cabinet range. Verotec has now acquired the stock, design drawings, UK sales rights and business contacts for the entire IMRAK 1400 family from CommNetworks.
Sustained growth prompts another move for verotec
After only five years in its previous factory, Verotec has moved its UK operation some 10 miles to new premises in Botley, Southampton. The move was required as the result of continuing and sustained growth in the modified and custom side of the business. The new facility gives twice as much space for the design department, enabling extra CAD seats to be introduced.
Verotec supplies application-specific aerospace chassis
Verotec has supplied a 6 slot horizontal 3U 19" VMEbus chassis, configured to the project’s requirements, to UTC Aerospace Systems, a global supplier of technologically advanced aerospace products. Based on one of Verotec’s standard modular integrated system designs to reduce development time and cost, the 600 mm extended depth 3U chassis provides a physically and environmentally secure system environment.
Intelligent fan trays cool offshore oil field
In Abu Dhabi, UAE, summer temperatures routinely exceed 40°C so, even in air conditioned control rooms, effective thermal management of electronic equipment is critical if operational life is not to be significantly reduced. Verotec has supplied Yokogawa with several hundred modified intelligent fan trays, destined for the new Umm Lulu offshore development located 30km offshore, which is expected to produce up to 100,000 barrels of crude oil ...
VME64x custom 6U extender card enables military applications
Verotec has developed a custom 280mm long 6U VME64x extender card for a leading embedded systems company to facilitate testing and debugging of their cards used in a ruggedised military application. The custom extender provides an interface between the standard DIN41612 connectors used in the VME64x-based test system and the high density 160-way female connectors used to connect to the board under test.
Verotec enhances digital printing for enclosure modification
Having installed an extremely versatile Mimaki UJF-6042 UV curing LED digital inkjet printer, Verotec can offer ultra-high resolution 1800x1800dpi digital printing in up to 65,536 individual colours as part of their enclosure modification services.
Re-engineered fan trays improve performance at a lower cost
Verotec recently won a multi-year contract from a major North American manufacturer of flight simulators to supply significant volumes of application-specific subrack front panels. The company was then tasked with re-engineering existing designs of three and six fan monitored fan trays. The critical requirements were to meet or exceed the existing airflow, monitoring functionality and acoustic noise specifications in the same physical size at low...
Bespoke avionics test rig showcases custom capabilities
Verotec’s manufacturing, design, modification and customisation capability enabled a 12U (533.4mm) 19" application-specific avionics test rig to be created from the customer’s original design drawings in a short timescale through a combination of computer-aided design, bespoke manufacturing and modification of already designed standard products.
VPX user-definable power & ground development system
Verotec has announced that it is supplying configured TecSYS 3U VPX development chassis to a major US-based defence contractor for new product developments. The half-width 3U KM6-RF subrack is the centrepiece of a 6U TecSYS thermally managed, powered, cooled and EMC screened desktop system.
Verotec contributes to US Army anti-ballistic missile system
Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) is a US Army anti-ballistic missile system designed to shoot down short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles in their terminal phase using a hit-to-kill approach. The interceptor missile carries no warhead, but relies on the kinetic energy of the direct impact to destroy the incoming threat.
Fan trays offer intelligent cooling in tight spaces
Designed to be mounted in an IEC297-1 19” rack below the equipment that needs cooling, Verotec’s 1U intelligent fan trays offer configurability, performance and controllability, ensuring that cooling is maximised while sound levels and energy consumption are minimised.
