A customised EMC-screened 3U 19" rack cases has been introduced by Verotec, supporting BBC R&D into further improvements in the performance of the widely-used NICAM codec. Modifications included a four-ink CMYK digitally printed front panel, which enabled a very subtle image with more than 64,000 different colours to be faithfully reproduced across the complete surface of the panel, without margins around the periphery.

Verotec utilised its TecServ+ Project Service operation to ensure the smooth running of the London Underground, which carried 1.26bn passengers in the past year. The company used the service to design and manufacture bespoke enclosures used to house critical switching and interfacing equipment.

Verotec has worked closely with a UK-based motion systems integrator on a project to deliver a scanning head and its associated high precision motion and gearbox drive package to a portable radar unit manufacturer. The control equipment for the scanning head is housed in a custom designed, vertically mounted Veroshield EMC screened rack case.

A US-based defence contractor has been supplied with Verotec custom designed intelligent fan trays for a major project. In order to maximise the cooling of critical elements of the electronic system located above the fan tray, the 19" rack-mounted 1U trays have six strategically located fans within the tray.

  Enabling complex 3D high precision machining, volume batch processing and multi-shift operation, Verotec has revealed that it has invested more than £120,000 to create an automated aluminium CAM machining centre in its Southampton, UK production facility.

Verotec has extended its range of pluggable power supplies optimised for use in CompactPCI systems with the introduction of a quad output 650W unit. To meet the PICMG 2.11 Power Interface high power requirements on the 3.3 and 5V rails, the compact slimline 6U 8HP 160mm unit features two independent converters operating in parallel enabling the PSU simultaneously to provide 80A at 5V and 70A at 3.3V.

Verotec has announced that the KM6-HD, a ruggedised variant of the popular KM6 family, has been independently tested to MIL-STD-167 (the US specification defines tests to ensure that shipboard equipment meets the mechanical vibrations to be found in marine applications). The subrack met the requirements both as an empty chassis and when partly and fully loaded with PCBs and modules.

In order to increase its customer service offering, Verotec has invested in new machinery and additional tooling for the IMRAK family of 19" floor-standing enclosures. Claimed to be the most versatile and configurable rack range on the market, Verotec believe that IMRAK’s reputation is the result of its strength, wide range of sizes, versatility, ease of use and the quality and fit of the product.

Highlighting how the platform provides a good base for customisation, Verotec has reported that they delivered a custom 6U, 2 x 4 Slot CompactPCI backplane for a flight simulation application.

The Eurocard 19” rackcase family from Verotec enables single or multiple 160 or 220mm deep 3U, 6U and 9U standard Eurocards to be mounted horizontally, saving valuable height in the rack or enclosure. Available in 1U and 2U high versions and with depths of 270 or 370mm, the Eurocard rackcases provide either 6HP or 12HP height, enabling multiple cards to be housed if required.

The VeroPower family of 3U pluggable switched mode AC-DC power supplies from Verotec offer high power densities in compact plug-in modules compatible with any standard 19” subrack system.
