Dual FMC features a Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA
VadaTech now offers a dual FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) carrier per the VITA 57 specification. The AMC502 features a Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA and comes in a double module, mid-size AMC. It has 32MB Flash memory and an on-board crystal referenced clock source to provide at least 125MHz as GTX reference input for PCIe, SRIO and GbE.
Boards provide high-speed PCIe expansion to MicroTCA
VadaTech has announced two boards that enable high-speed PCIe Expansion from an industrial PC to MicroTCA, AdvancedTCA, or other systems without customisation. The PCI123 is a PCIe compliant module routing x16 PCIe Gen3 out of the front panel ports, while the UTC006 provides an Ethernet switch managing an enterprise-grade Layer 2 or 3 switching/routing stack.
250MS/S dual DAC is suitable for high energy physics
Compliant to the MicroTCA.4 specification for high energy physics applications, a dual DAC offering 250MS/S at 16-bit resolution has been announced by VadaTech. The AMC523 comes in a double module, mid-size (full-size is optional) and routes x8 or dual x4 PCIe to the backplane. A Kintex-7 FPGA with 2GB of DDR3 memory enables large buffer sizes to be storing during processing and queueing data to the host.
Carrier allows video to be utilised in a MicroTCA system
A PCIe Gen3 carrier board, which allows high-performance commercial video or other boards to be utilised in a MicroTCA system, has been released by VadaTech. The AMC104 allows customers to use high-end commercial graphics cards as removable mezzanines, as well as upgrade their PCIe GPGPU or other video boards.
FPGA Mezzanine Card is both an ADC & a DAC
An FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC), which is both an ADC and a DAC, has been introduced by VadaTech. Compliant to the VITA 57 specification, the FMC525 meets Radar, LTE/Broadband communications systems, ATE, physics and video/broadcast requirements.
MicroTCA selected for airborne RADAR application
A military prime contractor in the USA has chosen VadaTech's MicroTCA for its airborne RADAR application. The system combines the functionality of ADC & DAC, data processing and storage in two rugged 1U rackmount systems. Both the 'transceiver' system and the 'storage' system utilise the same rugged chassis, but with vastly different payloads.
MicroTCA 1U chassis offers the 'highest' performance density
A rugged 6-slot MicroTCA 1U chassis, claimed to offer the highest performance density on the market, has been introduced by VadaTech. For comparable slots/performance, competing rugged architectures are typically at least 3U high. Featuring a thick aluminium construction and a reinforced cover, the VT950 is particularly rugged.
Adapter cards & carriers allow the re-use of legacy boards
A wide variety of adapter cards/carriers, which allow standard mezzanine cards of multiple formats to be utilised within the system, are offered by VadaTech. To meet engineer requirements, the adapter cards and carriers allow the re-use of legacy boards and the leveraging of existing technology.
AdvancedTCA carrier accepts any PCIe edge-type module
An AdvancedTCA carrier for one PCIe Gen 3 card has been released by VadaTech. The ATC121 features an Xeon E3-1268L V3 processor, quad-core at 2.3GHz or turbo frequency at 3.3GHz. To accept any standard PCIe edge-type module, the carrier has an x16 PCIe Gen 3 slot.
Dual wideband transceiver offered in FMC format
A dual wideband transceiver in the FMC (FPGA Mezzanine Card) format, with a frequency range of 70MHz to 6GHz, has been introduced by VadaTech. Suitable for LTE, SDR and other advanced RF applications, the FMC214 utilises eight SSMC connectors for the I/O.
New 6-Slot MicroTCA.4 Chassis Features High Performance Density in 2U Height
VadaTech now offers a 2U chassis platform that complies to the MicroTCA.4 specification for High Energy Physics and other applications requiring rear IO. The rear IO capability is an attractive option in many Mil/Aero, Physics, Broadcast, Energy, and Network Security designs.
AMC FPGA utilises SoC for high performance at low power
VadaTech has announced a FPGA in the AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Card) form factor that utilises the Xilinx Zynq all programmable SoC. The AMC518 comes in a single module, mid-size AMC that allows an FMC per VITA 57 to be plugged into the carrier.
MicroTCA solution wins military approval
A military prime contractor in Europe has chosen MicroTCA over OpenVPX for its RADAR Signal Processing application. The applications include ground-based mission surveillance, and airborne and ground-based RADAR. The company was looking for a high-performance, compact solution for data processing that could be used across multiple platforms including light-rugged and extreme rugged applications.
Single slot backplane addresses AMC testing
The VT072 single slot backplane from VadaTech is a simple tool for benchtop testing of AMCs. It prevents the requirement of a full MicroTCA chassis for simple power-up and de-bug. Although the backplane is typically used without a chassis, it does come with mounting holes for use within an enclosure.
Whitepaper explores power module redundancy
VadaTech has announced the release of a whitepaper on power module redundancy. MicroTCA (μTCA) is designed to build flexible and reliable (high availability) embedded systems. A μTCA system consists of up to 12 Advanced Mezzanine Cards (AMC), two cooling units, two MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH) and four power modules.
Chassis is offered with MicroTCA.4 & MicroTCA.0 slots
Providing both MicroTCA.4 compliant slots and MicroTCA.0 standard slots, the VT812 2U chassis has been introduced by VadaTech. Providing both MicroTCA slots enables a variety of configuration possibilities, including the use of rear I/O modules. Four mid-size MTCA.0 slots and four mid-size MTCA.4 slots, including corresponding MicroRTMs (Rear Transition Modules for MicroTCA), are offered by the chassis.
Upgrade legacy VME & cPCI systems to MicroTCA
This whitepaper from VadaTech, 'Upgrading your Legacy VME and CompactPCI Systems to MicroTCA', explores how to upgrade ststems to MicroTCA. This architecture provides robust system management, inter-processor bandwidth and high-reliability features to offer a more interoperable and lower cost solution than competing standards, such as VME and cPCI.
