4G devices support LTE category 4 and feature 3G/2G fallback

A line of LTE modules with UMTS/HSPA+, GSM/EDGE and GPRS fallback has been announced by u-blox. Designated the TOBY-L2 and MPCI-L2 modem series, the devices support LTE category 4 speeds up to 150 Mb/s down and 50 Mb/s up.

Instant global positioning with no extra components

Integrating a satellite receiver IC with all passives and a pre-tuned GPS antenna, the PAM-7Q is a GPS/QZSS antenna module from u-blox. With low power consumption of 22mA at 3V, high sensitivity from -147 to -161dBm, sophisticated noise suppression (ensuring maximum performance even in GPS hostile environments) and I2C/UART interfaces (one of each), the antenna module makes it very simple to integrate global positioning.

The smallest standalone GNSS positioning module on the market, the EVA-7M, has today been introduced by u-blox. Available in a 7mm x 7mm x 1.1mm LGA package, the new GNSS module supports US GPS, Russian GLONASS, Japanese QZSS, plus all SBAS augmentation systems and is designed for cost and space sensitive applications.

u-blox and CalAmp enter Brazilian telematics market

u-blox has revealed that CalAmp has selected u-blox as GPS receiver and cellular modem supplier for their new line of vehicle tracking, anti-theft and insurance telematics devices. This new line of telematics has been designed especially for the Brazilian market as Brazilian government legislation will require stolen-vehicle tracking units in new cars and trucks starting in 2014.
