Processors simplify low power wearable device design
Expanding its line up of ApP Lite application processors for wearable devices and the IoT, Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced the TZ1201XBG. This latest addition to the TZ1000 series is based on a high performance 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4F RISC processor capable of operating at frequencies of up to 120MHz.

Available in an 11.5x13mm package that is fully compliant with the latest JEDEC eMMC standard, Toshiba’s 15nm eMMC chips are among the world's smallest.
Power IC enables designs to meet ASIL-D requirements
Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a general purpose system power IC housed in an HTSSOP48-P-300-0.50 package measuring 6.1x12.5x1.0mm. Safety-critical automotive systems, such as Electric Power Steering (EPS) and braking, are required to meet the requirements of ASIL-D: the highest automotive safety integrity level prescribed in the ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
microSD cards are water-, shock-, temperature- & x-ray proof
Designed for action cameras and mobile devices for high-action sports and adventure enthusiasts, high speed microSDHC and microSDXC cards have been announced by Toshiba Electronics Europe. The water, shock and x-ray proof EXCERIA PRO M401 microSD cards operate over a temperature range from -25 to +85°C and can safely store data at temperatures from -40 to +85°C.
Small package microcontroller with pre-driver
The TX03 series of ARM Cortex-M3-based microcontrollers from Toshiba Electronics Europe, has been extended with the introduction of the TMPM37AFSQG – a new IC that incorporates Toshiba’s Vector Engine Plus (VE+) coprocessor and a pre-driver to enable brushless DC motor control. The TMPM37AFSQG pre-driver can directly drive MOSFETs for complementary 3-phase PWM output with a minimum unit of 25ns.
Receiver IC promises faster wireless charging
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced the launch of the industry’s first single-chip 15W wireless power receiver IC that is compliant with the Qi v1.2 specifications defined by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The TC7766WBG has been designed for use in mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and a range of mobile industrial devices.
SOI process achieves the low insertion loss for RF switches
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced the development of a next gen TarfSOI (Toshiba advanced RF SOI) process optimised for RF switch applications. RF switch ICs, fabricated using the new TaRF8 process such as the SP12T1 process, achieve the lowest-class of insertion loss in the industry. Sample shipments of SP12T RF switch ICs fabricated with the new process will start in January 2016.

Aimed for use in wearable devices, healthcare devices, smart phone accessories, sensors, remote controllers, beacons and toys, Toshiba Electronics Europe’s new Bluetooth ICs feature built-in Flash ROM, with one also adding the option of integrated NFC Tag functionality.
Thin high-speed photocoupler suits industrial automation
Toshiba has launched a photocoupler featuring high speed data transmission (20Mb/s) and a very thin package that offers protection against extreme operating temperatures. The TLP2768A integrates a high-reliability infrared LED in its input side, and has an open-collector output type high-speed Photo-IC in its output side that is capable of data transmission at 20Mbps and of supporting both 3.3V and 5V power supplies.
Start of equipment installation at New Fab 2
Toshiba and SanDisk have announced the start of equipment installation in the New Fab 2 facility at Yokkaichi Operations. New Fab 2 is primarily intended to provide the clean room space necessary to transition a significant portion of the current Yokkaichi 2D NAND capacity to 3D flash memory. The companies also signed definitive agreements for joint manufacturing of 3D flash memory and investment in New Fab 2.
HDDs suit mission-critical high-availability storage
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced its latest enterprise performance HDD line, the AL14SE series, designed for mission critical servers and high-performance, high-availability storage systems. The AL14SE is Toshiba’s latest 10,500rmp HDD to support 12.0Gb/s SAS and 512n sector length for compatibility with the latest generation host controllers and host bus adapters.
NAND flash memories are serial interface compatible
A line-up of 24nm SLC NAND flash memory products for embedded applications that are compatible with the widely used Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) has been unveiled by Toshiba Electronics Europe. Wide ranging applications for the Serial Interface NAND include consumer applications such as flat-screen TVs, printers, wearables and industrial applications including industrial robots.
ARM Cortex-M0 Core MCUs are optimised for USB devices
Expanding the company's ARM Cortex-M0 core based TX00 series, Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched three MCUs optimised for use in USB devices. The TMPM066FWUG, TMPM067FWQG and TMPM068FWXBG feature integrated USB controllers, 128Kb of Flash memory, 16Kb of SRAM and have been designed for use in mobile device applications, such as tablets, laptop PCs, office automation equipment, industrial controllers and sensor hubs.
DTMOS IV power MOSFETs integrate high speed diodes
Expanding its range of 600V DTMOS IV MOSFETs, Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced versions featuring integrated High Speed Diodes (HSDs) for use in high efficiency power supplies and either full or half bridge motor control applications. The reverse recovery time of the HSDs suffers only from minimised thermal influence, ensuring fast switching across a wide range of temperatures.
Image recognition processor enhances automotive safety
DENSO is utilising Toshiba’s TMPV7506XBG image recognition processor in its latest front-camera-based active safety system, which will be equipped in vehicles to reach the market in late 2015. NIR 2.1MP CMOS image sensor enables iris recognition
Designed to improve security on mobile devices, Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched its first CMOS image sensor to enable iris recognition, the 2.1MP T4KE1. The device captures images for recognition with higher sensitivity than conventional CMOS image sensors by omitting the usual colour filter in the pixel structure, which increases sensitivity in the NIR (Near-InfraRed) spectrum.
2MP automotive CMOS image sensor mitigates LED flicker
Featuring the industry’s first LED flicker mitigation function, Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced a 2MP CMOS image sensor for automotive cameras. The CSA02M00PB sensor is equipped with Toshiba’s original LED flicker (pulsed LED) mitigation circuit to minimise image flicker caused by LED light sources.
eHDDs & eSSDs earn VMWare 6.0 certification
Toshiba Electronics Europe announces that its 12Gb/s SAS 15,000 RPM enterprise HDDs - the AL13SX Series - and eSSDs - PX03SN Series - have earned VMware Virtual SAN 6.0 and 5.5 certification for VMware vSphere environments. Virtual SAN for VMware vSphere 6.0 is a hypervisor-converged storage platform that was released in March to deliver the benefits of software-defined storage to the data centre.
Compact transistors support high definition audio
Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a smaller bipolar transistor for use in the output Tr stage of high definition audio systems. The 2SA1943N and 2SC5200N provide the same high quality sound output as the now-famous 2SA1943 and 2SC5200 but in a TO-3P(N) package and just three quarters of the width and length to reduce space consumption compared to the previous TO-3P(L) package.
