A test solution able to perform the first tests for RF conformance in 3GPP FR2 has been launched by Rohde & Schwarz.

Developments in mobile technology are moving constantly towards increasing bandwidths, enabling increasingly high data throughput. The Rohde & Schwarz setup represents some of the first research exploring data transmission at sub-THz frequencies featuring ultra-wide bandwidths signal analysis.

Under the slogan ‘Accelerate Design. Maximise Performance’, Rohde & Schwarz will present its comprehensive portfolio of EMC test and measurement equipment at EMV 2020 in Cologne on March 17th to 19th, 2020. At Booth 112 in Hall 10.2, Rohde & Schwarz will focus among others on test solutions for the automotive industry. 

Almost all initial 5G NR FR1 deployments are based on time division duplex (TDD), with unpaired frequency bands typically in the 3.5GHz frequency range. However, about 90% of all spectrum below six gigahertz is organised as paired frequency bands, using frequency division duplex (FDD), where downlink and uplink use different frequencies. At the moment, these frequency bands are already in use by 4G LTE.

The R&S TS8996 RSE test system covers the entire 5G FR1 and FR2 frequency ranges for radiated spurious emission (RSE) measurements. The automated test system measures spurious emissions from 5G components and devices during development and compliance tests, and along with RSE measurements it performs the required EMI tests.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) adopted the first specifications for BLE 5.2 at the end of 2019. This initially concerns the new power control functions. Rohde & Schwarz has already integrated specified tests into the Bluetooth test software of its wireless testers in the R&S CMW platform. 

Rohde & Schwarz and Decawave have jointly developed test and measurement capabilites for production line testing of UWB functions in chipsets and complete devices. As part of the cooperation, Decawave provided knowledge of the required test strategy and test methods, as well as the Decawave DW3000 as test device.

Rohde & Schwarz and Gemalto, a Thales company, have announced that they are working on significantly reducing expensive and time-consuming field testing for IoT. IoT protocol stack features have been specified by 3GPP, but IoT devices have to interact with different network configurations worldwide. 

A 5G Site Testing Solution must test new capabilities, such as beamforming and 5G/LTE dual connectivity, to verify the correct installation and performance and to ensure that the required quality of service (QoS) is delivered to end users.

ipoque, a Rohde & Schwarz company, has announced that a feature upgrade of their telco analytics solution R&S INTRA now allows efficient monitoring and traffic analytics of networks adopting 5G non-standalone mode (5G NSA). The new feature was requested by a mobile network operator (MNO) in order to be able to roll out their 5G adoption strategy.

R&S Cloud4Testing is an innovative software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering from Rohde & Schwarz. The platform is accessible with a browser without having to install any additional software or plugins. The first cloud ready signal analysis tool is the R&S VSE vector signal explorer software that brings the experience and power of signal analysis directly to the user’s desktop.

The Global Certification Forum GCF and PTCRB certification organisation have accepted first test case validations in various FR1 and LTE band combinations using the new Rohde & Schwarz R&S TS RRM 5G radio resource management (RRM) conformance test system. The solution is the latest addition to a successful family of RRM conformance test systems.
