Integrated LED controller increases lamp power
Supporting up to 18W lighting applications such as TLED and PAR lamp shapes, the SSL5015 and SSL5018 LED controller ICs have been announced by NXP Semiconductors. The LED controllers offer customers a cost-effective, non-isolated solution with a high lamp power factor up to 0.9 for US and Japan (SSL5015) or Europe and Asia (SSL5018).

In-car digital radio transformed with 'Saturn' platform
With digital radio gaining momentum in key markets around the world, a growing number of car OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers are offering in-car digital radio systems. SDR processor decodes DRM, HD Radio and DAB/DAB+/T-DMB
Designed for the rapidly expanding in-car digital radio market segment, NXP Semiconductors have introduced the SAF360x series multi-standard software-defined radio (SDR) co-processor. The SDR processor is capable of decoding all three major digital terrestrial radio standards including Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM), HD Radio and DAB/DAB+/T-DMB.
NFC simplifies Smart home wireless energy harvesting
At the 2014 International CES, NXP has demonstrated a wireless smart lighting network offering easy installation in the home. With an energy harvesting switch (featuring no battery and no wires) from EnOcean, the demonstration network uses the NXP JN5161 wireless microcontroller and implements the ZigBee Green Power feature.
ESD protection diodes safeguard NFC antennas
NXP Semiconductors has introduced the PESD18VF1BL and PESD24VF1BL ESD protection devices which are specifically designed to protect NFC antennas from transient voltages in mobile devices. 18 and 24V (respectively) bi-directional diodes, the devices feature very low capacitance down to 0.35pF in order to allow easy design of the antenna matching circuit.
Flexible MCUs enable late system design changes
Allowing developers to address late design changes to their system, the LPC11E37H and LPC11U37H microcontrollers from NXP include an I/O Handler peripheral. The microcontrollers provide designers with the flexibility to add incremental peripheral functionality at any point during the design cycle.
