Investment aims to drive global V2X uptake

V2X technology will allow cars to communicate with one another and the surrounding intelligent traffic infrastructure by wirelessly exchanging real-time warning messages and traffic information. Aiming to drive the rapid global uptake of V2X technology, NXP Semiconductors has announced a follow-on investment in Cohda Wireless, a software company specialising in automotive safety applications.

V2V technology successfully tested by Audi

Audi has concluded an extensive field test of V2V communications technology developed by NXP Semiconductors and Cohda Wireless. During the test, V2V-enabled Audi vehicles equipped with the NXP RoadLINK chipset drove towards one another at relative speeds of up to 500km/h, communicating across distances of more than 2km.

Privacy concerns hamper consumer IoT curiosity

One-chip solution for smart car access enables wearables

A true one-chip solution for smart car access, which is claimed to be a world first, has been introduced by NXP Semiconductors. The NCF29A1 combines Passive Keyless Entry (PKE), an RF transmitter for remote control and an immobiliser in an HVQVN32 package. Wireless MCU supports ZigBee Remote Control 2.0

NXP's ultra-low-power wireless MCU family, JN516x, has been awarded the Golden Unit status for the recently announced ZigBee Remote Control 2.0 standard. Smartphone amplifier is 'world's smallest'

A smart amplifier for smartphone audio systems, claimed to be smallest smart-amplifier solution, has been introduced by NXP Semiconductors. The TFA9897, which is the company’s 3rd gen smart amplifier, is suitable for all smartphones. The amplifier features the latest version of NXP’s algorithm, which is embedded in a system optimised for 8Ω micro-speakers.

Card selected for prepaid card loyalty programme

KDDI, a Japanese mobile operator, has selected NXP Semiconductor’s secure MIFARE DESFire EV1 for their loyalty programme in the ‘au WALLET’ prepaid card. The au WALLET service includes a loyalty programme where points based on the amount purchased via the card and monthly mobile bill can be earned. Since the launch in May 2014, five million ‘au’ network subscribers have applied for the au WALLET card.

NXP & Mouser launch design contest

NXP Semiconductors has introduced their line of multi-gate, multifunction, dual PCB configurable logic devices with Schmitt-trigger inputs. The Dual PCB Configurable Logic product line will be the centrepiece in a design contest featuring products from other NXP Business Units, including Smart Analog, Load Switches, Protection and Filtering, Small Signal MOSFETs, Small Signal Diodes, and other devices on the same evaluation board.
