PoL DC/DC converters offer efficiencies as high as 95%

Murata has announced three additions to its Okami OKR series of single output, non-isolated PoL DC/DC converters. Constructed in a space efficient SIP format, these compact devices use the latest synchronous buck technology to deliver outstanding thermal performance, high power density, and efficiencies as high as 95%.

Ceramic ESD device performance improved by 20%

Compared to the peak voltage performance characteristic of previous models, Murata has increased the performance of it’s LXES ceramic ESD protection devices. Using a narrower gap between the two electrodes as a discharge element, the improved devices reduce the dielectric strength of the ceramic when voltages up to 8kV are repeatedly applied.

Data & power isolation for critical USB environments

Providing dual port USB data and power isolation from a single upstream port with 500mA available from each port, the NMUSB202MC has been unveiled by Murata. The competitively-priced, surface-mount powered data isolator module is aimed at industrial control applications where USB is becoming increasingly common for communications with sensors.

Compact rotary position sensor is 'world's smallest'

Believed to be the world's smallest rotary position sensor, the SVM4 series from Murata is approximately an eighth of the size of the company's previous position sensor, the SV03. Measuring just 4.0x4.5x2.0mm, the SVM4 suits space-constrained applications such as finger-joint controllers in humanoid robots or to provide angular control in very compact spaces such as in radio-controlled model and game console controllers.

Three-phase power supply operates without neutral connection

  A three-phase input, hot-swappable AC/DC power supply has been introduced by Murata. The D2U5T-H3-7000, which has a typical efficiency of up to 95.5% at 50% full load, provides a 54VDC main output at up to 7,000W from a 480VAC input.

'World’s most precise' SMT rotary position sensors

Delivering an excellent linearity of ±1%, Murata Electronics has announced what it claims to be the world’s most precise surface-mount type rotary position sensors. The SVK3 series meets the usable temperature range from -40 to +125°C and 300,000 cycles service life requirements for automotive applications.

Crystals enable ECUs to operate at higher frequencies

Suitable for next-gen automotive LANs, such as Ethernet or image processing ECUs, ADAS ECUs and gateway ECUs, the XRCGB-F-A series crystal units have been announced by Murata. The crystals are compact, 2016-size (2.0x1.6mm), and highly precise while supporting high frequencies from 24 to 48MHz.

EMI filters provide high attenuation characteristics

A series of surface mount, LC combined-type EMI suppression filters have been released by Murata, targeting the automotive, industrial electronics and healthcare markets. The BNX series filters employ an exclusive circuit configuration combining capacitors and ferrite beads to achieve superior frequency characteristics and excellent attenuation characteristics for highly effective noise damping.

Precise crystal clock generators support BLE, WiFi & ZigBee

Murata has developed two Crystal unit products: the 2016-size (2.0x1.6mm) XRCGB-F-P series and the 1612-size (1.6x1.2mm) XRCFD-F/XRCMD-F series. A crystal unit is an electronic component oscillating at a specific frequency that utilises the piezoelectric properties of quartz crystal. It can generate high precision signals and is used as the source of clock signal for digital circuits.

Responsive NTC sensor is suited for complex designs

Murata has announced that it will soon commence production of a range of surface-mounted NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) sensors, packaged on a Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) film. Easily routed inside complex designs and tight spaces, the devices feature an FPC thickness of approximately 100µm.

Power supplies deliver 1300W from a 108-264VAC input

Delivering 1300W from a 108-264VAC universal input, the D1U3CS series of front-end AC/DC power supplies has been released by Murata. The power supplies are hot pluggable and have no minimum load requirement. For fault-tolerant and N+1 redundant applications, the devices incorporate low-loss integral ORing FETs on the main 12V output.

Crystals support frequency tolerances required for wearables

Two families of miniature 1612 size crystal units, designated the XRCFD and XRCMD series, has been launched by Murata. Boasting an overall*1 frequency precision of +/- 20 ppm, both device series support the frequency tolerances required for wireless communications such as LTE/3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, ZigBee and NFC.

PoL DC/DC converter integrates PMBus interface

A non-isolated PoL DC/DC converter has been released by Murata Electronics. The OKDx-T/40 is a 40A, 132W digital DC/DC converter with a typical efficiency of 97.2%. Through the integrated PMBus interface, power management features not previously available in analogue PoL converters are enabled.

Crystal series offers 43% improvement in total tolerance

A series of crystal units for use in a broad range of consumer and industrial applications has been released by Murata. Based on the company's XRCGB-F family, the XRCGB-F-P crystal units have an improved frequency tolerance of +/- 20 ppm (at +25°C) and an improved frequency shift by temperature of +/- 20 ppm max. (-30 to + 85°C).
