2kVAC isolated µModule converters are UL60950 recognised
The LTM8057 and LTM8058 DC/DC converters are now available from Linear Technology, with both µModule devices featuring a 1.5W output and 2kVAC galvanic isolation (production tested to 3kVDC). Available in a 9 x 11.25 x 4.92mm BGA package, both devices include an isolated transformer, control circuitry, power switches and a modest amount of input and output capacitance.
µModule combines USB data communications and power
Guarding against ground-to-ground differentials and large common mode transients, Linear Technology has announced a USB µModule (micromodule) isolator that combines USB data communications and USB power. The LTM2884 is suited for systems implementing USB in harsh industrial or medical environments where protection from ground differences is required.
Switching regulator delivers 2A but needs only 2.5µA of IQ
A synchronous step-down switching regulator, capable of a 2A, 65V input, has been launched by Linear Technology. The LT8620's synchronous rectification delivers efficiency as high as 95% while Burst Mode operation keeps quiescent current under 2.5µA in no-load standby conditions.
Capacitor-based backup power solution is standalone
Linear Technology introduces the LTC3350, a supercapacitor charger and backup controller IC that includes all of the features necessary to provide a complete, standalone capacitor-based backup power solution. It provides all PowerPath control, capacitor stack charging and balancing, and capacitor “health” monitoring to ensure that the backup system is capable of reliable operation.
PWM controller is targeted for power levels up to 400W
Designed for use in a synchronous forward converter with active clamp reset, the LT3753 PWM controller has been launched by Linear Technology. The primary side, current-mode PWM controller operates over an input voltage range of 8.5V to 100V, delivers up to 95% efficiency and is targeted for power levels up to 400W.
DC/DC converter for RF and automotive applications
A synchronous, current-mode buck-boost DC/DC converter, the LTC3114-1 delivers up to 1A of continuous output current from a variety of power sources, including single-cell Li-Ion, 24/28V industrial rails and 40V automotive inputs. Introduced by Linear Technology, the device incorporates four internal low RDS(ON) N-channel MOSFETs to deliver efficiencies of up to 96%.
PMBus power system manager features ±0.25% voltage accuracy
Adding extensive digital control and monitoring to an analog power system, the LTM2987 highly integrated 16-channel µModule PMBus power system manager has been introduced by Linear Technology. Software-based configuration and measurement of power system performance reduces time to market, enhances system reliability and enables finely optimised board energy consumption.
ADC for communications receivers and instrumentation
A 16-bit 210Ms/s high performance high-speed analog-to-digital converter (ADC), designated the LTC2107, has been introduced by Linear Technology. It has superior AC performance specifications, achieving 80dB SNR performance (4dB higher than alternative products) and industry leading (according to the company) 98dB SFDR at baseband.
17V input capable synchronous buck regulator
Delivering up to 2A of continuous output current to outputs as low as 0.6V, the LTC3624 has been introduced by Linear Technology. The high efficiency, 17V input capable synchronous buck regulator features a constant frequency, current-mode architecture which minimises switching noise while offering very fast line and load transient response.
Programmable voltage supervisor with built-in EEPROM
