Step-down switching regulator integrates current sensing
The LT8613 is a 6A, 42V input capable synchronous step-down switching regulator with integrated current sensing which has been introduced by Linear Technology. Synchronous rectification delivers efficiency as high as 95%, Burst Mode operation keeps quiescent current under 3µA in no-load standby conditions and its 3.4-42V input voltage range makes it suited for automotive and industrial applications.
Peak power detector features response time of 7ns
Linear has introduced a high temperature RF Schottky peak power detector that operates from 600MHz to 15GHz, and has ultrafast detection response time of 7ns from a pulsed RF signal. The LTC5564H has an on-chip fast latchable comparator with a total detection and propagation delay of 9ns, response times which enable RF and microwave applications that slower devices cannot support.
PSRR linear regulator's spot noise is only 2nV/√Hz at 10kHz
Linear has released the LT3042, a low noise, high Power Supply Ripple Rejection (PSRR) low dropout voltage linear regulator. Its design features low spot noise of only 2nV/√Hz at 10kHz and 0.8µVRMS integrated output noise across a 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth. Low frequency PSRR exceeds 90dB out to 10kHz and high frequency PSRR exceeds 75dB out to 3MHz, quieting noisy or high ripple input supplies.
PFC boost controller achieves power factor over 0.99
Linear has announced the LT8312, a PFC boost controller that can achieve a power factor of greater than 0.99 by actively modulating the input current, allowing compliance with most harmonic current emission requirements. This device operates with current mode control and critical conduction mode, a variable frequency switching scheme that returns the current to zero in the inductor with every cycle.
CAN transceiver features ±60V overvoltage fault protection
To reduce field failures without the need for costly external protection devices, Linear Technology has released the LTC2875 CAN transceiver. In practical CAN systems, installation cross-wiring faults, ground voltage faults or lightning induced surge voltages can cause overvoltage conditions that exceed absolute maximum ratings of typical transceivers.
8-channel SAR ADC features an SNR performance of 100dB
An 8-channel, 18-bit, 1Ms/s SAR (Successive Approximation Register) ADC with outstanding 100dB SNR performance has been released by Linear Technology. To configure the MUX and input range, the LTC2373-18 is equipped with a programmable sequencer that can store up to 16 control words. This allows users to mix and match fully differential and pseudo-differential input ranges with a variety of MUX channel configurations.
4-140V buck converter delivers up to 400mA continuous output
Linear has announced a 140V input-capable high efficiency buck converter that delivers up to 400mA of continuous output current. Operating from an input voltage range of 4-140V, the LTC7138 is suitable for telecomms, industrial, avionics and automotive applications. The convertor utilises a programmable hysteretic mode design to optimise efficiency over a broad range of output currents.
Helping to migrate from X-ray to direct radiography
The migration away from traditional X-ray imaging towards Direct Radiography (DR) is gaining momentum, now the initial ownership costs are decreasing and its benefits become more apparent. By Afshin Odabaee, Product Marketing Manager, µModule Power Products, Linear Technology.
Battery balancer provides a stand-alone solution
A single IC, stand-alone multicell battery balancer for 12V lead acid batteries has been introduced by Linear Technology. To balance battery charge, the LTC3305 absorbs charge from higher voltage batteries and transfers it to lower voltage batteries. Charge is transferred using a lower capacity battery that is sequentially connected across the batteries in the stack. When absorbing charge, the battery also absorbs energy, adding to the total ener...
PWM controller delivers output currents of 20A
Designed for negative-to-negative or negative-to-positive DC/DC conversion, the LT8709 synchronous PWM controller has been introduced by Linear Technology. The device is unique in solving the problem of regulating a negative voltage with respect to system ground, without the need of complicated level shifting circuitry.
Device generates & distributes low jitter signals
Generating and distributing the low jitter signals essential to clocking data converters with a high SNR, Linear has announced a low phase noise integer-N synthesiser core with an ultralow jitter clock distribution output section. The LTC6950 integrates a PLL which offers a normalised in-band phase noise floor of -226dBc/Hz and exceptionally low -274dBc/Hz normalised 1/f phase noise which stays intact going through the clock distribution section.
