A 92GSa/s, 32GHz modular instrument has been added to its portfolio of arbitrary waveform generators by Keysight Technologies. The high-speed, wide-bandwidth M8196A arbitrary waveform generator allows engineers to generate digital, multi-level (e.g., PAM-4, PAM-8, DMT) signal scenarios at 8 bits vertical resolution and test their electrical and optical links with complex modulated signals up to 64GBaud.

Five new frequency options have been added to Keysight Technologies’ E5063A ENA Series network analyser. The analyser also has a new staring price of $10,000. Keysight Technologies has completed the acquisition of Anite. Keysight paid approximately $600 million in cash for Anite – a UK-based leading supplier of software solutions for wireless research and development. The deal supports Keysight’s strategy to grow in wireless and expand its software offerings.

Keysight Technologies has introduced the 5G channel sounding Reference Solution as it looks to take a leadership position in 5G wireless research. The new Reference Solution is designed for accelerating advanced research of millimeter-wave 5G channel models and includes ultra-broadband and MIMO, key requirements to measure the millimeter-wave channel and validate new air interface standards.

PAM-4 measurement solutions with support for PAM-4 data formats and built-in error counters have been added to Keysight Technologies M8000 Series BER test solutions. PAM-4 support and the ability to integrate a device’s built-in error counter helps R&D and test engineers characterise and test high-speed digital receivers for the data-centre networking, storage and computer industries.

Two higher temperature models have been added to the Keysight Technologies thermal imagers portfolio. The U5856A and U5857A can perform temperature measurements up to 650 and 1200°C respectively. This allows users to detect a wide temperature range for various applications such as petrochemical and steel processing, electrical and mechanical applications, building maintenance and even electronics applications.

Keysight Technologies is to collaborate with NTT DOCOMO, Japan’s largest mobile service provider, on development of next-generation 5G wireless communication systems. Keysight will actively support the 5G research programs led by NTT DOCOMO, and provide test and measurement solutions and expertise.

A Method of Implementation (MOI) guide for PCIe 3.0 Transmiiter/Receiver (Tx/Rx) Impedance and Return Loss Tests (Hot TDR/RL) using the ENA Series network analyser’s enhanced time domain analysis option (E5071C-TDR) has been produced by Keysight Technologies. The guide details procedures for time and frequency domain measurements and is used with a test package, such as Keysight’s state file, to simplify compliance testing and setup.

A battery life test solution that will meet UE acceptance is being developed by Keysight Technologies and W2BI, an Advantest Group company. The test solution was developed in accordance with a number of test cases as defined within CTIA Battery Life Test Plan rev 1.0 and TS.09-v7.6.
