FTDI & MCCI collaborate on embedded USB host stack
FTDI Chip and MCCI have collaborated to produce an embedded USB host stack which is designed for use with FTDI Chip’s FT900 product family. The TrueTask USB high performance, production-ready embedded USB host stack supports the highly integrated FT900 series of application-focused microcontrollers.
Software tools & Arduino libraries support EVE ICs
Designed to support engineers using the FT800 and FT801 Embedded Video Engine (EVE) graphic controller ICs, FTDI Chip has announced supply a comprehensive suite of additional support facilities. This support includes a behaviour modelling software tool, a development module, a Windows-based software tool and a set of Arduino libraries.
Integrated & optimised ASSPs shorten design cycles
A reference design demonstrates how closely integrated and optimised ASSPs can help shorten design cycles, even when a bespoke user interface is needed. By Dave Sroka, FTDI Chip.
48MIPS microcontroller for industrial control applications
The company's second application oriented controller device, FTDI Chip has announced the FT51 8-bit microcontroller. Incorporating one of the highest performance 8051 compatible processor cores on the market, the MCU features a 48MHz operating clock speed and a 48MIPS processing capacity (1clock cycle per instruction).
ICs support display, audio and touch functionality
Expanding the company's Embedded Video Engine (EVE) offering, FTDI Chip has introduced the FT801. Supporting intelligent display implementations with audio and capacitive touch functionality, the FT801 has a capacitive touch element which is provided through an I²C interface connected to a standard capacitive touch controller.
Simplifying HMI development on intelligent displays
With the cooperation continuing to deliver major benefits to the electronic engineering community, FTDI Chip and 4D Systems have introduced two products offering design engineers a foundation on which to construct compelling HMIs in a quick and trouble-free manner. This latest offering complements the recently announced 4DLCD-FT843 intelligent display solution.
Gameduino2 game adaptor shield driven by FT800 EVE
FTDI Chip has confirmed that its ground-breaking FT800 Embedded Video Engine is a key component in an exciting new Kickstarter project - the Gameduino2 game adaptor shield from Excamera. In 2011, the Kickstarter-funded Gameduino made major industry impact by successfully bringing vintage gaming to the popular Arduino platform.
USB GPS module enables location-based applications
FTDI Chip has today announced the FT-X-GPS, a USB GPS module which allows precision positioning data to be derived - so that a computing platform (such as a laptop, tablet, or embedded PC) to which it has been connected, via its USB port, can benefit from this precise data to enable location-based services and applications that continue to emerge as mobility increases.
Multi-Chip Solution for Developing USB-to-RS232 Systems
FTDI Chip has today announced the USB-DUO, an addition to its portfolio of semiconductor solutions for USB-to-RS232 interfacing. The USB-DUO integrates one of FTDI’s new high performance USB bridge controller ICs with its RS232 transceiver IC. This provides engineers with a platform on which they can create their own USB-to-RS232 converter cabling systems - supporting speeds of up to 250 kbits/s.
Dedicated USB-to-UART Bridge Chip Optimized for Android-Based Systems
FTDI Chip has further expanded its hardware and firmware support for the Android operating system with the introduction of innovative new silicon. The FT312D is a full speed (12 Mbit/s), USB host bridge IC that is designed to provide fast and simple integration of a USB link into various peripheral hardware from an Android platform that has a USB device port.
FTDI Teams Up with MikroElektronika to Provide Development Support for EVE GUI Platform
