The future is IoT: Overcoming the challenges of new technology
The Internet of Things (IoT) has so far failed to deliver on its enormous potential. But new developments in connectivity may finally enable the billions of connected devices we were promised, notes Juan Nogueira, Director at Flex’s Connectivity Centre of Excellence.
Second-generation direct DC/DC converter for data centers
Flex Power Modules has introduced the BMR482, its second generation of direct conversion isolated DC/DC converter. By converting directly from a 48V supply to the load voltage without an intermediate stage, the BMR482 delivers increased efficiency in a compact package, enabling it to meet the higher power needs of today’s data centers and cloud computing.
DC/DC converter with ultra-wide input voltage range
Flex Power Modules announces the PKJ7200W, a series of EN50155-compliant DC/DC converter modules for railway rolling stock equipment. Provided in a half-brick format, the PKJ7200W delivers up to 200W output power, with an ultra-wide input voltage range of 14 to 160V.
80A digital PoL regulator in compact SIP
Flex Power Modules introduces the BMR474, a high power density, digital non-isolated Point of Load (PoL) regulator. Due to its vertically mounted SIP (Single Inline Package) design, the BMR474 saves valuable board space, while being able to deliver up to 80A output current, with a maximum power output of 198W.
DC/DC converter delivers 1,300W in half-brick package
Flex Power Modules has announced the BMR685, a digital DC/DC converter for radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers in the half-brick form factor that can provide continuous output power of up to 1,300W.
Small form factor PoL regulator offers high efficiency
Flex Power Modules announces the PNA series, an analogue non-isolated PoL regulator (point of load) that offers excellent efficiency and thermal performance in a small form factor. Its compact size and wide input voltage range of nine to 36V mean that it is suited for a range of industrial applications, including robotics, factory automation and process control, and that it is suitable for both 12 and 24V power systems.
Analog DC/DC converter delivers performance ratio for telecoms applications
Flex Power Modules has introduced the PKU4913D, the latest variant in its PKU-D series of analog DC/DC converters in the sixteenth brick format. The new converter delivers excellent electrical and thermal performance at an affordable cost.
DC/DC converters deliver up to 1,100W power capability
Flex Power Modules has announced the launch of the BMR492 - a series of digital eighth-brick intermediate bus converters capable of delivering between 600 to 800W of continuous power along with a peak power of up to 1,100W for short periods less than 1s. This so-called ‘burst mode’ operation is commonly required for CPUs (such as Intel’s Ice Lake processor for example) for datacom and data centre applications.
BMR491 high power quarter brick isolated DC/DC converter variants
Continuing to extend its portfolio of high-density DC/DC converter solutions with built-in digital interfaces, Flex Power Modules has introduced two variants of the new BMR491 series. Aimed at deployment in next generation data centres striving to meet increasingly stringent efficiency benchmarks, these converters include versions that leverage the company’s hybrid regulated ratio (HRR) technology.
BMR683 quarter brick digital DC/DC converter for RFPA
Flex Power Modules has announced the BMR683, a new series of digital PMBus DC/DC converters primarily aimed at radio frequency power amplifier (RFPA) applications and infrastructure for the 5G telecom market. The new converter family provides monitoring functionality and control of the feedback loop to help stabilisation.
Flex Power Designer provides design support for Xilinx FPGAs
Flex Power Modules has updated its Flex Power Designer software to include a highly anticipated reference design tool for Xilinx-based field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The new 4.0 release also provides further system optimisation and loop compensator features to improve overall power-stage design analysis, helping power designers to accelerate time to market.
Flex uses O-RAN to grow presence in RFPA market
In line with the world’s rapidly advancing 5G cellular wireless networks, Flex Power Modules is working closely with both OpenRAN, and O-RAN Alliance, a global community of more than 160 mobile operators, vendors, and research and academic institutions operating in the Radio Access Network (RAN) industry.
Flex boosts industrial range with 2W DC/DC converter
Flex Power Modules has extended its range of miniature isolated DC/DC converters aimed at industrial applications with the introduction of the PUB-2B series. Available in single or dual output options, the high-performance unregulated modules provide an output power of up to 2 W with no minimum load required.
