Total internal reflection LEDs enable high packing density

Automation reduces medical patch pump costs by 20%
By automating the production and test processes, ESCATEC has reduced the manufacturing costs of a medical patch pump by 20%. The initial contract for a few thousand unit prototype run of the PCB was done using ESCATEC's SMT line is Switzerland. However, the customer then asked for additional components, such as sensors, to be added that had to be done by hand, taking several minutes per unit and adding to the production cost.

ESCATEC Medical Sdn Bhd is now FDA registered as a Medical Device Contract Manufacturer under FDA 21 CFR Part 820 QSR (registration number 3010354240). The company has already been approved to the ISO13485 quality management standard for medical device manufacturers for a number of years.
Wireless testing enhances Swiss manufacturing plant
Wireless testing has been installed at ESCATEC’s manufacturing facility in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. "The Internet of Things will mean that almost all products will have some form of wireless interface," said Thomas Eschenmoser, ESCATEC's Section Head Test Engineering.
Moire pattern adjustment accelerates LCD testing
The automatic testing of LCDs has been a challenge for manufacturing and test house ESCATEC. "We found that the LCD displays had strange patterns on them," said Thomas Eschenmoser, ESCATEC's Section Head Test Engineering. "We worked out that these are Moire patterns caused by an interference between the images on the arrays in the LCD and in the image sensor in the camera."
