An envelope tracking power amplifier (ETPA) using real-time efficiency and linearity measurements for optimising ETPA design, with flexibility to accommodate different 5G signals has been developed by MaXentric Technologies. The use of NI AWR Design Environment, specifically Microwave Office circuit design software and AXIEM 3D planar EM simulator, enabled the designers to significantly reduce PA optimisation time without sacr...
Design Forum set for Tokyo renewal
The AWR Design Forum (ADF2016), an open forum that brings together NI AWR software customers and partners as well as microwave and RF engineering professionals to learn, network and collaborate on the design of today's microwave and RF circuits and systems, kicks off its sixth consecutive year on July 8 in Tokyo.
Design platform underpins radar simulator success
Students at Technion—Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel have successfully designed a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) using NI AWR Design Environment. The design challenge was to build an efficient, easy-to-use SAR simulator that would connect to MATLAB for signal processing and that could handle many targets on the surface and then use MATLAB to calculate the object shapes.
PA design forum tackles modelling, characterisation
The NI/AWR Design Environment will be featured in the second annual National Instruments-sponsored RF/microwave power amplifier (PA) design forum at European Microwave Week 2015 in Paris on September 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This design forum, entitled, “Device Technologies, Characterisation, Modelling and End-Use Applications,” will focus on the device technologies, characterisation, modelling and end-use applications of RF and ...
Design tool network mismatches in MMIC designs
The AWR Connected for DWT, a new NI AWR Design Environment flow enables integration with Design Workshop Technologies’ (DWT) design-rule checking (DRC) and/or layout vs. schematic (LVS) tools for printed circuit board (PCB) and module design. The new AWR Connected for DWT DRC and LVS flow can run in one of two ways: in the full view/DWT user-interface (UI) mode or transparently from within the Microwave Office UI.
Design software to preview at Phoenix show
NI (formerly AWR Corporation), says that the NI AWR Design Environment V12—the first major software release in 2015—is now available as a pre-release to select customers, partners and evaluators. Previewing for the first time at International Microwave Symposium 2015 (IMS2015) in Phoenix (May 18-22) this latest release boasts new load-pull and antenna- and radar-specific features, as well as ease-of-use improvements, speed enhancement...
Design & simulation of a 2.4/5.6GHz WLAN antenna on PCB technology
This application note describes the design and simulation of a simple PCB antenna for 2.4 and 5.6GHz using Nl AWR Design Environment, inclusive of Microwave Office circuit design software and AXIEM 3D EM planar simulator.
Design & simulation of an ISM band antenna on PCB technology
ISM radio bands have traditionally been reserved internationally for the use of RF for Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) purposes. In recent years, the fastest-growing uses of these bands have been for short-range, low-power, communications systems. Cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, NFC devices and wireless computer networks all now use ISM.
Software integration unites full-wave EM field simulation standard
AWR and ANYS have announced the successful integration of ANSYS HFSS into AWR's Microwave Office high frequency circuit design software. This integration unites the industry standard for full-wave EM field simulation and NI AWR Design Environment/Microwave Office to quickly and accurately simulate microwave circuits.
