Following a successful initial competition, Arrow Electronics has announced a second contest aimed at finding the most innovative and imaginative FPGA-based designs in Europe.

Simplifying the infusion of AI into high-performance computing is the purpose of Arrow Electronics using a new software platform ready to run on the BittWare 385A FPGA accelerator card. A competition to find the most innovative and imaginative FPGA-based designs in Europe has been launched by Arrow Electronics. To encourage a wide participation, Arrow is offering a development board free-of-charge to each entrant who submits a verified project plan.

A family of radio modules to jump-start IoT-device design has been introduced by Arrow Electronics. They leverage the power-efficient dual-core performance of STMicroelectronics’ STM32WB55 wireless microcontroller (MCU). The Sharky modules were co-developed with Italian designer Midatronics.

A global agreement with Infineon and Arkessa will extend Arrow Electronics’ ability to support customers with cellular communications for the Internet of Things (IoT). Security remains one of the top concerns for organisations for connected devices.

Arrow Electronics has launched the Smart Airport Asset Management Solution, an IoT solution co-created with IBM. Based on an Arrow-designed and sourced set of IoT sensors and gateways, the IBM Watson IoT Platform, and IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management software, the solution will provide airport operators with improved operational insights that optimise equipment maintenance to avoid downtime and improve the traveller experience.

Arrow Electronics is to participate in the Smart Cities Accelerator Program of Qualcomm Technologies which encourages the global acceleration of edge compute, 5G appliances and NB-IoT distributed sensors. Qualcomm Technologies is promoting a library of Smart City solutions that combine existing mobile broadband networks while re-imagining existing infrastructure in cities around the world.
