CIPURSE-compliant security chips for contactless transport ticketing, micro-payment, authentication and access solutions are now supplied by Infineon Technologies. Now offering CIPURSE4move, CIPURSEmove and CIPURSESAM, the company claims to be the world’s first supplier of a complete CIPURSE portfolio.

The CIPURSE-compliant security chips enable the transportation industry to quickly install secure, interoperable and cost effective ticketing solutions.

By 2025, it is expected that almost 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Therefore, public transportation and fast and secure transit solutions will become an important part of urban development.

According to the open CIPURSE standard, all Infineon CIPURSE security controllers allow a smooth migration from existing infrastructure based on proprietary ticketing solutions to advanced systems.

The CIPURSE4move security controller, which supports CIPURSEProfile S, is suitable for mid-range transport ticketing solutions which are broadly installed in megacities including Sao Paolo or Rio de Janeiro. Allowing an easy migration from existing legacy systems to state of the art security based on AES128 encryption, the device is compatible with solutions based on Mifare technology.

Compliant to the CIPURSEProfile L standard, the CIPURSEmove chips are suitable for limited use paper tickets bought by occasional travellers such as tourists.

Suitable for ticket validators at train stations or in public transportation vehicles such as buses or trams, the CIPURSESAM security chips enable secured authentication and fare collection from travellers holding a smart card. The devices, which are based on a Common Criteria EAL 6+ certified security IC, are compatible with systems using Mifare technology.

“CIPURSE is the only truly open security standard that allows easy access to all relevant components and enables mass market adoption of contactless ticketing solutions,” says Antoine Vilain, Product Lines Director Payment and Transport, Oberthur Technologies, and Board President, OSPT. “Thanks to its broad portfolio of security products, Infineon further accelerates the implementation of systems based on the CIPURSE standard.”

The CIPURSE4move, CIPURSEmove and CIPURSESAM are sampling now and will be available in 2015.

At Cartes Secure Connexions 2014, 4th to 6th November, Infineon will exhibit its CIPURSE portfolio in hall 3, booth 3E 004.
