Broadcom Corporation today announced widespread support for its DOCSIS-based Ethernet over Coax (EoC) for Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) architectures from leading companies including Changhong, Coship, Harmonic, Jiuzhou, Skyworth, Sumavision and ZTE. This industry support from the top manufacturers and service providers in China demonstrates the momentum toward standardized quality of service (QoS) to ensure a high-quality TV, broadband and telephone experience and to advance China's drive toward network convergence. These top companies plan to launch DOCSIS EoC for EPON solutions that are enabled by Broadcom and specifically meet the low cost infrastructure requirements for deploying triple-play services to multi-dwelling units (MDUs) in China.
Broadcom is demonstrating industry-leading DOCSIS 2.0 and 3.0 cable modem, coax media converter (CMC), EPON and set-top box (STB) technologies at this week's International Coverage and Transmission (ICTC) Conference in Beijing, Booth #203.
