CSR connectivity, audio and location platforms brought to life at Mobile World Congress
CSR will be opening the doors to its Mobile World Congress ‘Experience Room’. Located on the CSR stand (1E51), the Experience Room is packed with interactive, hands-on demos which bring to life the plethora of consumer use-cases and end-user experiences made possible by CSR’s market leading connectivity, audio and location platforms.
Open“The Experience Room at Mobile World Congress this week is a glimpse into our vision of the future of the Location-aware Wireless Connected World” said Kanwar Chadha, Chief Marketing Officer at CSR. “The sheer diversity of CSR technology on display in our Experience Room reflects CSR's status as a global player in the realms of connectivity, location and audio platforms that significantly enhance consumer experience. At home, at work, or out and about, CSR's technology is already integral to many of the products from leading brands that consumers use in their daily lives. These demonstrations show how we’re collaborating with our customers to help them differentiate their products and create the next wave of desirable new features and functionality that consumers will be desperate to have in their electronic devices.”
Of the 20+ demonstrations on display, some major highlights include:
• A mobile handset and watch demo in collaboration with NEC Casio, showing how consumers can now remotely operate their phone from their pocket. Through its Bluetooth low energy technology implemented in the handset, CSR will show the watch being used to provide caller ID, receive SMS, sync date/time, or activate a proximity alarm if the phone is accidentally left behind somewhere.
• A preview of CSR’s exciting new ‘urban canyon’ and indoor location technology. These will enable accurate automotive navigation throughout the city and pedestrian navigation in deep indoor environments, such as in office buildings and airports. This indoor location technology holds the potential to hugely increase the accuracy of location-aware social networks, shopping and advertising services, such as the recently-launched Facebook Deals or FourSquare. This would allow retailers to entice shoppers with highly targeted and customised promotions/offers straight to the handset, and would deliver a much richer end-user experience.
• A range of audio demonstrations showcasing the vastly superior quality of CSR’s renowned CD-quality and low-latency aptX CODECs for wireless devices that significantly enhance the consumer experience with wireless audio. By delivering uncompromised sound quality with no cables, no docks and no complications, CSR is enabling a truly compelling listening experience for your music.
• In partnership with CSR, Dublin, Ireland-based Rococo Software will also be using stand 1E51 to preview its new LocalSocial platform that adds rich proximity features to any device with Bluetooth on board; thereby making it easy to link a device's Bluetooth address with information stored online in the cloud. For example, users can associate their devices with their Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn identities so they can share, with strict control, their social world with nearby people or businesses. LocalSocial can be used to enable a range of applications, including casual social browsing” and peer-to-peer gaming, while retailers can achieve the ultimate in proximity marketing.
A range of customer products will be shown on the stand including mobile devices from Samsung, RIM, Sharp, Nokia, Toshiba, NEC Casio and other leading handset manufacturers, and aptX-enabled consumer audio products such as the Android-based Creative ZiiO entertainment tablet, Altec Lansing’s inMotion Air wireless speaker, and Bluetooth Stereo headphones from Sennheiser.
