The Electric Vehicle (EV) market is evolving, not just in size but also in technology. Each year we see an increase in the energy density of EV batteries. This advancement comes from two avenues, improvements to cell energy density through advancements like the cathode chemistry, but also from pack-level weight reduction.

Cell evolution will drive changes in demand for materials like nickel and cobalt, both of which have challenges around their supply.

Pack-level materials are being reduced in weight, but this comes from alternate choices and material optimisation for components such as thermal management, thermal interface materials, heat spreaders, composites and many more.

This webinar provides an introduction to the materials required for Li-ion electric vehicle batteries at the cell- and pack-level. The webinar is based on the contents of the brand new IDTechEx report: 'Materials for Electric Vehicle Battery Cells and Packs 2021-2031'.

This webinar covers:

  • An overview of materials used in battery cells and battery packs.
  • Key OEM designs and how this could change.
  • The impact of the above on material demands and markets.

IDTechEx will be hosting the same webinar three times in one day, so please join which ever session is the most convenient for you. Spaces are limited.

Date: Thursday 11th February 2021 Duration: 40 minutes
