Xplora gets more powerful & personal with the X6Play kid’s smart watch
Xplora Technologies AS announces the launch of its premium smartwatch X6Play, a recent winner of the 2023 CES Best Innovation Award in the wearable technology category.
The X6Play marks Xplora’s first fully in-house developed smartwatch setting a new standard for connected children’s smartwatches. X6Play offers true personalisation and integrates with Xplora’s premium services, reinforcing Xplora’s industry leadership.
The black X6Play comes with a pink and green bezel and loop in each box, however other accessories packs can be purchased on the website to allow kids to customise the watch as desired. The X6Play smart watch is available from the Xplora website for an RRP of £179.99 and will be available soon in pink and blue too.
Xplora has embarked on its most ambitious product roadmap to date with the release of three new smartwatches in 2022, of which two models are fully developed by Xplora. Xplora’s entry level model XGO3 was released in Q3 22 and has already won high acclaim in international trade press.
The X6Play is the Company’s new premium smartwatch with even better specifications in addition to offering unique platform integration and personalisation. Xplora’s portfolio of smartwatches will be complemented by the high-end smartwatch X6Pro, lifting the bar for connected smartwatches for children, to be released soon.
“Xplora is taking another leap through the introduction of three new smartwatches in 2022. We are thrilled and excited to introduce the X6Play which sets a new standard for connected children’s smartwatches with unique personalisation possibilities,” said Sten Kirkbak, CEO and founder of Xplora Technologies.
“I am humble and proud of the advances our technology and product development teams have achieved with X6Play and excited about the integration with Xplora’s premium services. At the same time, we are consistently striving to reduce Xplora’s carbon footprint through packaging innovation. I am proud that Xplora’s new packaging is made of nearly 100% recycled content. Further, we have achieved a volumereduction of more than 40% and weight reduction of more than 20% with our new packaging, reducing transportation costs”.
More powerful
The Xplora X6Play ups on all important specifications: better battery performance, higher resolution camera, a larger screen, improved speaker and sound and double the storage space. The X6Play is powered by a Qualcomm 2500 chipset, runs on Android operating system, has a crisp and clear 1.52” 360x400 TFT screen and boasts a 5MP camera. The X6Play will be made available as both e-SIM and Nano-SIM versions.
More personal
Every child is unique and now their smartwatch is too! The X6Play can be personalised with accessories, watch faces and ringtones. The X6Play is introduced with three different bezel colours and three different coloured loops in the box for playful individualisation. For additional personalisation Xplora will offer two accessory packs sold separately with additional coloured straps, loops and bezels. The X6Play is built to integrate with the upcoming Xplora’s premium services with the objective to drive further service revenues.
According to a study carried out by the UK Government in 2022, activity levels still remain down compared to pre-pandemic levels with only 44.6% of children and young people in school (aged 5-16) meeting the Chief Medical Officers’ (CMOs) guidelines of taking part in sport and physical activity for an average of 60 minutes or more every day. The X6Play encourages kids to stay active, with a step-counter and the award-winning Goplay platform with games and rewards to be earned.
Working with major film and TV companies such as Paramount, Warner Bros, Universal Pictures and Netflix with past campaigns including Space Jam and Tom and Jerry, kids can currently learn about rare species from around the world on the Zoo World campaign or join the global movement for a sustainable world on the Net Zero campaign. Xplora also runs regular competitions and offers amazing prizes for topping the leader board.
Paula Radcliffe, Xplora’s UK brand ambassador commented: “I am delighted to be working with Xplora as I recognise the great work they are doing in encouraging kids to get fit and healthy, and the new X6Play offers kids a more powerful and feature packed watch which I am sure they will love. With technology now usually keeping kids glued to a screen, it is refreshing to see a company that actually rewards them for getting up and moving!”
To make life as easy as possible, the watch comes with an Xplora 4G SIM card which is, for convenience, already placed in the watch so it can be used immediately. Important for children desperate to put it on a wrist and use it quickly! The Xplora Connect system has an incredibly affordable monthly subscription of £7.99 [fair usage data policy applies] and there is no minimum term. There is also the option of a 15% discounted annual membership of £81.48 which reduces it even further to £6.79 per month with payment made up front.
The X6Play smart watch is available from the Xplora website for an RRP of £179.99 and will be available soon in pink and blue too.
