Upgrades enhance solid state drive test coverage
Solid State Drive (SSD) test coverage has been extended by Advantest with enhancements to the company’s MPT3000 series. With hundreds of systems already installed, the product line is now extended to cover more test insertions including engineering, low-volume production, and built-in self-test (BIST) applications, all with the same MPT3000 architecture and software.
The MPT3000 modular, tester-per-DUT (device under test) architecture and unique hardware acceleration, now supports all SSD protocols and form factors.
In the fast-growing storage market, high demand for SSDs is leading to an increasing variety of form factors and a shift in protocol usage from SATA to higher performance PCIe and SAS.
The modularity and flexibility of the MPT3000HVM system provides a single solution to cover the range of SSD product configurations while the new MPT3000HES system has the same hardware, software, thermal performance and interfaces in a smaller configuration for “copy exactly” engineering support and lower-volume applications.
Expanding beyond protocol test, the automation-ready MPT3000HVM provides a cost-effective Smart Power BIST solution with the same footprint, software and thermal performance as the protocol test solution.
This option targets production test insertions requiring only a low-speed serial interface for maximum synergy with protocol test insertions.
“The MPT3000 platform provides our customers with the flexibility and performance to test their wide array of SSD products and helps them to improve time to market,” said Colin Ritchie, vice president of system level test at Advantest. “By filling out the range of products in our MPT3000 series with the MPT3000HES and adding capability to the MPT3000HVM, Advantest is continuing to enhance and optimise test performance with solutions that reduce customer’s time to qualification and time to production in the high-growth, highly competitive SSD market.”
Both the new MPT3000HES and the Smart Power BIST option of the MPT3000HVM began shipping in the first half of 2017.
