Teledyne LeCroy Announces New TeleScan PE Utility supporting PCI Express 3.0 Specification

The previous CatScan utility was targeted at applications based on the PCIe 1.1 and 2.0 specifications, and is considered the industry de-facto standard utility, used in PCI Express developer labs over the last decade.

Teledyne LeCroy is an important member of the PCI-SIG, developing products with the goal to drive faster development and test times of PCIe 3.0 applications, said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG Chairman and President. Its contributions aid PCIe 3.0 developers with protocol adherence and interoperability which helps to further ensure the continued success of the PCI Express standard.

TeleScan PE includes all existing features in CatScan, and increases its utility with a newer and more highly descriptive graphical user interface that shows PCIe bus information in a tree-structured format, detailed with information from the specification. PCIe 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 based devices can use this utility to understand more about how their PCIe add-in card is configured. The configuration space registers of devices can be both read and written in order to facilitate user designed tests. Users will appreciate the informative and detailed specification descriptions for PCI Express register fields. The utility will support scanning on host machines using Microsoft Windows® 7 or Windows 8, and also on Linux systems.

The new TeleScan PE utility makes it easy for add-in-board and system developers to quickly understand the PCI Express specification configuration status of their product and help identify internal system operational problems, said John Wiedemeier, Senior Product Marketing Manager of Teledyne LeCroy's Protocol Solutions Group. The new TeleScan PE will benefit the entire PCI Express development community by providing a free-of-charge utility for debug and test.
